“I mean, they sold Van Dijk for £12m. So is he a better defender than Van Dijk? No. Is £15m reasonable? I would say that Celtic in the current market could probably get £20m.

“So my pitch would be £20m is a cracking deal for Celtic and it’s also a very good deal for Arsenal. That’s where I see the value.

“People can look and judge in different positions and requirements, and of course I’ve been probably more vocal than anybody else about the need for a whole new back four for Arsenal, but in value terms I find it difficult to break down.

“The reason is; he plays in Scotland, he gets 85 per cent possession at his football club in Glasgow Celtic, but when they go to Europe the team gets found wanting a little bit.

“Kieran Tierney is a fabulous footballer, but he’s got a lot to learn defensively. That’s the issue in value.

“So I think if Celtic get £20m they’ll take it, and I think Arsenal will be relatively pleased with that.”

 

Did he leave Celtic on bad terms or something? FFS, I bet one could find a former Rangers man that would be more respectful to Tierney and Celtic.

What's the story with him anyway, obviously his allegiance is 'split' between us(aye right) and arsenal. But he always seems to be a massive arsenal fan and will (like now) side with them more often than not and look to twist things like this 'deal' in their favour.

I think we will be a stronger team than last season regardless, but really hope we can keep him for the 10, we won't get better than him and he's only going to get better.

 

Someone needs to tell dickless that we have a player on our hands we don't want to sell who wants to play for us. theres the difference between him and vvd cause he was a fan before he played for us, vvd like all the rest are mercenaries, that not an intentionally slanderous comment it's the truth from my perspective, so first chance of more money for these fellas and there gone can't begrudge them of that, and we can't hold out for more money on a want away player. Also a center back is a fairly generic position a left back is golddust always has been but dickless is a clueless money grabbing arsenal loving ball bag.

Now having said that if kt was to go this window he doesn't owe us a thing and id have the kid back in a heartbeat. I personally don't see him leaving, or wanting to leave anyway.

99.9% of players whether we like it or not see us as a stepping stone.

Charlie nic can go jump off a cliff the utter * that he is.

KT is in that 0.1% that is living the dream.

He will definitely go, But when he chooses to do so and at a price that will be enough for him to know that the sum involved will not only stand his club in good stead financially but more importantly ensuring we can in future command top fee's for our players like him, He will undoubtedly end up world class.

KT loves celtic and anyone with half a brain cell can see barring a major major fallout he will look to do what is best for the club as well as himself.

Apparently Arsenal are going to come back with another improved bid. You get the feeling this will be the offer that seriously tempts the board. Arsenal will be aware of Celtic's asking price and wouldn't come back with a third bid unless its very close to what Celtic are willing to accept. Of course all this is irrelevant if Tierney doesn't want to go, unless Celtic accept the bid and politely ask him to leave. If that was to happen and KT made it public he doesn't want to go anywhere there would be an uproar among the Celtic support and rightly so. Its a very interesting situation. If Teirney did leave and Celtic got £25 million for him the blow would be softened if that money was put back into the playing squad (thats 5 x £5million players) but we all know Lennon would be lucky to see half of that money.
