Don't really agree or disagree as has been pointed when fit KT imo is in top 2 best LBs in the UK arguably just as good as Robertson who could we get that will be better than izzy as understudy nobody will.come to be second choice with any real pedigree look at spurs with kane they knew they couldn't get anyone decent in as cover to then be second choice waste of wages and money

 

Izzy was done at our level when we let him go the first time.. it was uninspired lazy recruitment.. don’t give a * about Spurs.

 

Can’t get a better back up than Izaguirre...

 

Thought he'd be back sooner that it seems he'll be. Why was he even put on the bench against the huns if he was still months off being back fit? The whole situation has been weird tbh.

The thought of Izzy at left back for the foreseeable is worrying.

 

Look at Spurs left backs though, 2 cracking players in Davies and Rose.

 

Alot laugh at that but it's sort of true. We won't get left backs coming to play 2nd string when they have better options due to how thin quality is in the labour poll.

Also people are totally disregarding how important the left back position is to us. The teams been built around Kieran Tierney. Celtic attack asymetrically with the left back going forward and the right back tucking in to a back 3. So this suits Izzy as a back up as we know he can be affective going forward. Also suited an ageing Lustig.

With Toljan now signed I think Rodgers has other ideas in mind but ma point is Izzy wasn't a bad signing at the time and still does a Job.

 

I honestly can’t get my head around people not being able to understand, signing someone with real quality helps KT.. and the team.

 

I complete forgot he was on the bench, that is really weird. * know what's going on.

 

Although signing a back up is good we should be trying to sign someone that will challenge for the position with Tierney.

 

I think Izzy has been class.

 

Izzy has definitely been class going forward. I actually even think KT (much better player though he is) genuinely still has things he can learn from Izzy in that respect. He's also been an absolute bombscare defending. There's a reason Brendan didn't trust him at Ibrox. Anyone not terrified by the thought of facing Valencia with Izzy at LB is kidding themselves.

Class is permanent and Izzy could still do a turn for an SPL team (but not Aberdeen, Rangers, Hearts, Kilmarnock or Hibs at this stage), but JC is right IMO.

I love Izzy and will always remember him. I don't like the thought of certain people turning on him in a rather nasty way if Valencia exploit him like they probably will if he plays. IMHO Brendan should be playing Hayes at LB right now in preparation for Valencia in case KT doesn't make it.

 

We can do better than Izzy but someone that’s going to genuinely challenge Tierney will cost a lot of money, unless we unearth a real gem.

I think it is more that people consider it is unrealistic that we'd be able to sign someone with real quality who is also willing to play second fiddle to KT while also accepting a squad players wage. I do think we can do better than Izzy though.

 

You need at least two quality options in every position. It’s not about playing second fiddle it’s about have strength and depth in your squad. Doesn’t have to be an expensive signing just someone with a bit of quality..

KT plays too many games and it’s negligent not to have a decent option.

 

Said that the first time we played Rosenberg, think that ship may have sailed now.

 

Too good to sit on the bench imo.

 

We wouldn't sign anyone if they didn't think they could compete..

We signed Edouard when we had Dembele as our number 1, albeit on loan first..

What's the point in Shved coming from player of the year and wanted by other big club's when Forrest is our number 1 right winger?

Why has Bayo came here, no even registered for possibly our only other European game this season and Edouard ahead of him and possibly even a 6 month loan in Burke who isn't even a striker?

This notion that no player's of quality will want to come here if we've already got a first teamer in their spot, is nonsense..

There is plenty of player's from worse league's than ours, that pay far less, but are still highly rated and would jump at a move here...as well as challenging their selves that they can be the number 1 in their position..

It would help if we were actually out scouting them..

There’s a reason Izaguirre basically went to Qatar or wherever it was. He’s done and went out for a payday and an early retirement.

If the LB position is so important to Celtic why the * is our back up Izaguirre and Johnny Hayes?
