We can go a few years without, hence it being a good position, but we dont want to. Lawell will sell players before he loses his bonus. SO its significant for the quality of the team in the short term, not the club in the long term.

He's escaping a lot of fire.

Least of our troubles out of the 4 of course but looks very predictable and off the pace. Has done for a while IMO.

It won't help that the rest of the defence are dire at the moment, but he's been off his game for a while now, might be similar to ajer in that reliable additions will help him recover his form, but for now he's been poor.

so predictable going forward just now and at the slightest hint of trouble a 40 yard pass back or more , a shadow of the player we know .

I don't think it's as simple as that.

He's meant to be one of our best players. At times like this you need those players to step up and drag the others around him.

At least to some degree. Obviously he can't transform our centre backs. He's no * Dumbledore.

He's very one footed, passes the ball back way too much but this looks like a Brendan instruction. His crossing has gone to complete *, and he was genuinely a better defender under Ronny.

Potential is still obviously massive and he is one of our most consistent players, the home leg vs AEK for example he was terrific. However some elements of his game seemed to have declined.

He can’t pass a ball ‘straight’ very well

Always curled with the inside of his foot

    Annoys me

It's the mentality of the team at the moment. No trust. No confidence.

Yes, he’s looked a shadow of himself, but it doesn’t help that he often plays a different role every week, or even two or three different roles in a game (wing back, left back and centre back). It’s easy to forget how young he is but, like Ajer, he’d definitely benefit from having a leader at centre back.
