Aye was struggling at times mate, those games for Scotland would have took it out him aswell. That’s why I would have kept Izzy as their is no natural LB replacement for me.

Good to see he’s lined up as a definite future captain, Rodgers wouldn’t be giving a teenager the armband for no reason. He’ll be here for the 10 at the very least.

KIERAN Tierney will happily relinquish the captain’s armband at the Allianz Arena this Wednesday night should Scott Brown return to the Celtic starting XI for the UEFA Champions League clash with Bayern Munich.

The 20-year-old, along with the rest of his team-mates, will be delighted when their skipper returns to action following his recent injury lay-off, and having Brown back in the heart of the Celtic midfield for the forthcoming trio of tough games will be a huge boost for the Hoops.

The tie against Bayern is quickly followed by the League Cup semi-final against Hibernian at Hampden this Saturday, before Brendan Rodgers’ side head to Pittodrie for a top-of-the-table clash between Scotland’s two best teams next Wednesday night.

Tierney, fast approaching a century of appearances for his beloved Celtic, is looking forward to all three games, starting with the tie in Germany. And confidence is high within the Celtic squad following their impressive 3-0 victory over Anderlecht in Belgium last month.

“That was my first Champions League win in the group stage and that’s massive,” Tierney told the official Celtic website. “I’d played in the Champions League and had set up a goal before but I just hadn’t got that win yet, which annoyed me, so to make it away from home as well was extra special because it’s a hard thing to do.

“I got an assist and we kept a clean sheet, and all-round it was a perfect performance from everyone. For that first goal there were about 28 passes leading up to it and the ball from Olivier was inch-perfect. It had nearly stopped by the time I got to it, so I was able to wrap my foot around it and find Griff running in at the far post.

“It’s always important to get the points on the board as early as you can. In the Champions League it’s hard for every team as there are no easy games.

“When you go away in the Champions League, a draw is not always a bad result in the group stages, so for us to go away and win in the way we did with three goals was brilliant, and it probably could have been more.”

Tierney captained Celtic for the second time last weekend, leading the team to a 1-0 win over Dundee and maintaining a 100% record as skipper – the Hoops beat Kilmarnock 5-0 in the League Cup in his previous run-out as captain, when he also scored a stunning 35-yard goal.

But the Hoops defender continues to maintain the same attitude and work ethic which saw him graduate from the Celtic Academy into the first-team.

“I don’t ever pause to think about it actually,” he said. “If you think about it too much you’ll probably over-complicate everything. I’m just taking every day as it comes. I know how lucky I am. I know I’m living the dream. I’m making the most of it because I work hard every day and I never take anything for granted here at all.

“I think the fans can relate to who I am and what I’ve been through as well. I’m a normal boy with a normal upbringing, working class, and just living in an estate scheme and making it at Celtic. People can see that just with the way I act and who I am on and off the park.”

What a player. Only remember Robben getting by him once and it was in the 88th minute.

Very poor defensively even though he was up against Robben.

When he had the ball he played it back the way on many occasion. Especially in the second half, despite many of the players in front of him having space.

He was absolutely knackered during the last 15 minutes. Some shift for him.

I thought he was pretty poor for the majority of the game. Gave the ball away so cheaply too often, and left a lot of space down the wing for Robben to occupy.

    Couple of great tackles though.
