Completely disagree with that mate. He did have that role a lot but if you look at him in the Champions League that's when you see it properly.

That and when he moved onto the right under Lenny. Under Ronny and at Hibs it was the chase everything down but its not been his full Celtic career.

He said in his book it was WGS that taught him tactical discipline and I couldn't disagree with that.

I think my point is not being understood well. I agree with what's being said in regards to coaching.

My point translates well through Armstrong he has bags of natural ability and the rate he has improved hasn't happened overnight through tons of coaching he's just playing with a new belief and confidence in himself.

I thought the point was good players will always make it no matter what coaching they get or what team they play for? That is what I was arguing against.

I don't think he's got many weaknesses to his game in all honesty, but if I were to name any, they'd probably be those 2. Look at his passing now, it's on another level (a breath taking level). I take the point that it may not just have been Brendan's influence with him this year, but I've noticed it big time this year with his brain doing the work far more than his legs and desire. 2 year's before that granted were a write off.....although at time's he was still our best player..

Take both Messi and Ronaldo, one is blessed with unbelievable natural talent and would make it anywhere, anytime, no matter what. The other had to work hard on the training ground, burst his nut to impress and get his moves and is every day making himself physically and mentally a stronger player.

Both are at the peak of greatness, but both seem to have got their via two seperate routes albeit they both obviously adhere to the most professional training and coaching known to the sport.

As for our academy and this point, it is going to bring out the best in hopefully all players, but each player will need to utilise the coaches and the facilities to their own needs. Some will just have it - like Messi (but unfortunately not to his same level), and the academy will help steer them in the right direction, focusing their abilities and building their match sharpness, style and skills. Where as others will need to use the academy to come from being an almost nobody, and through mental dedication and will power to work hard on the training ground to push their bodies to their peak and could still make it.

As for Tierney, I hope we dont rush him, we don't need to rush him. Izzy has this covered for the time being, and everyone knows and understands when Tierney is fit and ready, he takes that position back. No problems.

I think the biggest thing is a defined role for him and it's by far the most important role in the system. He's taken his game upto a different level with regards to passing (although I've always said its not as bad as was made out) and in other ways as well but the most important thing is he has given him the role to shine.

Doesn't Brendan have a history with players and improving their passing? Mind Leon Britton got best European passer of the year in the 2011/12 season 93% in the EPL. That was at the height of Xavi and Iniesta. So there must be some magic formula Brendan has for making players much more precise in their passing. Some kind of special training technique but you'd think everyone would know about it. Maybe some players are suited to it and others not. Hope he gets Jozo suited to it because he looks like a good candidate.

Even Gordon's passing has improved quite a lot recently. So much so that the defenders don't expect him to chip it over forwards towards them on the by line :giggle1:

Tierney is another fantastic passer of the long ball. The amount of times he'* it over the defence to land right on Griffith's foot is incredible.

Allan was world class too for a couple games, thought we had our own Platani :55:

You know Kenny Dalgish's dad said to him when he was 15 if you want to learn how to play the game of football then Celtic's the club you should sign for. He was a mad Rangers fan too. I think he scored in his first 3 Old Firm derbies :56: Liverpool even blanked him when he was 15. Crazy how Rangers, Liverpool ignored him but Sean Fallon knew straight away. So there's a lot to be said for coaching and scouting.

Should KT walk back into the team when he is fit? I think Izzy is getting better and better with each game.

I think with every player KT might just need to bide his time until Izzy has a dip in form or (touch wood) gets injured.

What a great problem to be in right now, apart from CM we have 2 good options for every position on the park. In saying that, Bitton isn't a half bad back up really.

    Good times right now.

Assess the two players in training and take it from there. Whoever puts in the better shift and is playing better gets the shirt.

Football is a results business and Tierney is the better player, without question. You need to be brutal and that means cutting Izzy.

Football is also about keeping your squad happy and that means sticking with form players until they are no longer in form. Brendan has been excellent at doing that so far to be fair, I see no reason why that wont continue.

As much as Izzy has played very well when called upon, the development and tackling of Tierney is key for us, as well as his pace down that left side. Coming to the end of his time here it's Izzy's duty to step up when called upon which he has, cause he's a top pro. Another reason he would u derstand Rodgers putting Kieran back in.

He'll be reintroduced gradually anyway, it's not the type of injury you want to keep aggravating.
