Seems like every player thread on here just now has a discussion about where that player is going and for how much.

Can we stop selling ourselves short and enjoy these players playing for Celtic?

KIERAN Tierney perfectly fits the description that the late great Tommy Burns gave of himself as a supporter who got lucky.

The 19-year-old is already a fans’ favourite who recognise himself as one of their own and Celtic manager, Brendan Rodgers, is in no doubt as to the player’s ability.

Indeed, after his first training session as Hoops boss, he ensured that Tierney was offered a new long-term contract.

And after making his 50th Celtic appearance in the UEFA Champions League clash with Manchester City, which saw the teenager put in another another outstanding display, the player known as KT drew more praise from his manager.

“He’s right up there in terms of talents that want to learn,” Brendan Rodgers said. “I have given lots of young players their first starts but what I love about Kieran is that every pass he makes is for Celtic, every challenge he makes is for Celtic and every header he wins is for Celtic.

“He’s a true Celtic supporter, who has come in out the stands and come through the Academy and he’s now living his dream playing in the first-team. His composure is getting better, and that comes with experience, his ability to take on board information is very good.

“We are asking him to do other things that can improve his game and he works on it on training and when we go into the games I can see him trying to implement it. That tells me he’s a boy that takes in information, tries to improve his game, reflects on his game and plays it.

“For 19 years of age, to play with that consistency at this club, at this time, is fantastic. There is lots of improvement to come from him but his starting point as a young player and his mentality is right up there.

“I’m delighted with Kieran and we will keep pushing him to make him the very best he can be.”

    I love KT.

So hard to find a good left back. Luckily, recently, we've had izzy....a good servant... and now teirney. Never hides and gives his all. Not many players like that these days. Can see in the way he tackles and challenges for the ball it's as, the way rodgers describes, is for celtic.
    What a gem.

What makes me think that is true is when he was with the youth team he was never regarded as a stand out future star compared to his team mates. So he must have it in him to keep improving all the time and taking on board information and implementing it. Ronny has to take a lot of credit for realising he had the ability, responsibility and confidence at such a young age but of course it's the youth coaches who deserve all the credit as they developed him from 8 years of age.

Now he has Brendan to learn from who is one of the best in the business, I'm really excited about his prospects.

Anytime you hear him talk he sounds like a guy with his head on his shoulders and is very humbled to be playing for his dream team.

Great to see him getting his competitive international debut last night.

I thought him and Marshall are probably the only one's getting pass marks after that shambles.

Has it in him to go as far as he wants in this game and I'm so happy to have him at Celtic.

Looked shattered by the end but was motm, particularly in that first half, and our best attacking threat..

No wonder he was knackered with that abysmal defensive display from Snoddy infront..

Feel sorry for him as he's walked in during our lowest point in a few year's probably and his club captain and international captain has given it up..

Hope he's given a rest on Saturday. He's only a wee lad and he runs his pan in every time he takes the field. A game off here and there will help keep him fresh.

Kieran Tierney on growing up Celtic

Once an autograph hunter outside Celtic Park, Kieran Tierney tells UEFA.com about his dream journey to the first team: "I think fans appreciate that I was once just one of them."

A Celtic player from the age of seven, left-back Kieran Tierney was a huge fan of the club – and even a ball boy at Celtic Park – before he ever made it to the first team. The 19-year-old tells UEFA.com about a special visit he received as a young player and his own unique connection with the Bhoys supporters.

How a visit from Celtic's Japanese international Shunsuke Nakamura helped give him belief ...

Shunsuke Nakamura was going to represent Japan [at the 2010 FIFA World Cup], and our team – I think the Under-12s or 13s – were doing a film. We didn't know anything about Nakamura coming to train with us. We saw Nakamura come out of the tunnel and he trained with us, doing passing and possession games.

At the end of the session he took his boots off and I think everybody noticed it. And then he simply came over and handed them to me. He said through his translator that I was the best player that day, so I was really delighted about that. I was 11 or 12 years old and I watched him week in, week out. For him to notice me and say I was a good player that day was brilliant.

How being a boyhood Celtic fan gives him a strong connection to the club's fans ...

So far it's been a dream journey. What I've done so far is what you aim to do: play in big games, Champions League nights at Celtic Park. It's been amazing.

I think fans appreciate that I was once just one of them: I paid my money to go and watch Celtic every week. [Me and my schoolfriends] wanted to grow up and be Henrik Larsson, Bobo Baldé, John Hartson and so on, so getting to meet them and getting their autographs was brilliant. Now people are starting to do that with me, and that's brilliant.

In an age when the average footballer is usually an aloof, out of touch millionaire its so refreshing to see a guy like Tierney. Just seems like a sound, and very taleneted, guy living the dream, without any airs and graces.

I think we can rest easy that he will be here for a good few years. Imagine being a fan then playing in the team that has a very realistic chance of winning 10 in a row. Not to mention he could well be the captain by then.
