Surely you are not comparing super Joe with Ki.

Ledley has a slightly better return my mistake.

To compare Ki and Forrest is ridiculous, when Forrest was going through his rough patch last year he was coming back from injury and clearly wasn't the same player he had been at the start of the year. Also at the time Forrest was 19 years old and thus deserved far more slack than a 23 year old who has been given ample opportunity to impress in the three years he has been here. To an extend you must be patient with young players but imo Ki has been given enough time, I don't want to see him holding our team back any longer.

He rarely beats the first man with corners, both Mulgrew and Commons deliver better corners than Ki does. I disagree about Ki taking more free kicks, he has proven in his two years here he isn't very good at them.

Surely having played 56 minutes without the millstone that is Ki we should have been 3 or 4 up.

The general consensus seems to be that when he came on that day that we improved.

Samaras...my *...some comments regarding him, on this forum were atrocious. Yet, even during his dry spell, Lennon stuck with him. And Samaras persevered. Now, he's almost a key figure in the team. Ki has had periods of great form, and some not so great form. But these other spells were never so long. I hope the scapegoat treatment will not reach the extremes that the anti-Samaras crusade did. Ki and Rogne were the Mowbray signings that Lenny kept. With a good reason, I believe.

I feel for Ki as i feel when he has been in good patches of form he has lost his place in the team and has to start again. A lot of players were poor in the cup semi, i thought Wilson at the back was extremely nervy and did not fill me with confidence whatsoever. I dont know what Samaras contributed. In the 6-0 thrashing of Killie he played brilliantly but yet got little praise. He is a very intelligent player and i think too often he is made the scapegoat for poor team performances. He is a very good set piece taker but Mulgrew is a different class. Sure Ki hit the post with two headers. but who else was there busting a gut to get their head on the ball? where was all our other chances? frustrates the life out of me when folk get on top of him. He is the sort of player we need for the european stage.

Mate, you have talked a whole lot of sense on this thread, well in.

For me Ki's issue is mental rather than one of playing ability. He lacks the mental grittiness and determination of a Naka, and some of the confidence too. I had hoped that would come when he was here, living in a new country etc. i still don't think he's there yet, but he's still only just turned 23.

I think next season will be a big year for him. We'll see...

but Samaras is a whole different matter, no one has ever doubted Samaras's talent they just don't think he shows it enough. I personally just don't think Ki is a very talented player and he isn't prone to flashes of brilliance like Samaras. Even during Samaras's worst periods he produced magical games every once in awhile. Ki has a decent game every now and then but nothing like Samaras.

Also Samaras's resurgence has largely come about due to a change in position, Ki is a central mid but will never be able to play anywhere else because of his limited athletic ability.

I like Ki, but think Brown/Kayal nLedley is our best cm, think he's decent at home or Hampden, but would never start him away from home as he needs time on the ball. If,n I know it's a big if, he knew how to head the ball, he would have been a 2 goal man of the match.

just have to ask did Ki not play outwide early in season when he was on fire and banging in the goals, i only ask as he seemed to have a knack of making runs into the box and finding space pretty well? I was pretty sure he was based outwide during that time.

I don't think he has ever played out wide at any point during his career, he lacks the pace and dribbling ability to play out there. In a couple of the European games he was floating around a bit on the left hand side but I think that was due to poor positional discipline more than anything else.

Ki's a good player but a bit like Ledley doesn't offer what Kayal and Brown do to our midfield unfortunately. We need a goal getter to play with the latter two.

I really don't know how anyone can blame Ki for losing that final.

Ki characteristic in Celtic fans when the team loses - hop on the blame train and play the blame game.

i can . becuase he missed two open goal headers , where it was easier to score ....once i can forgive but doing it twice is rotten from a player of his ability. aside from that he had an average game i thought.

He is talking about the killie cup final, not hearts semi-final.

Against Killmarnock? You must be replaying the Hearts semi in your head.

He has more athletic ability than you think. He's just positionally disciplined. And talent isn't only shown by doing mazy runs and dribbling. Being able to play possession football and pinpoint passes is a talent as well.
