I thought we were in a decent position financially and don't need to sell our good players

I know. But if we are offered £8M for Ki, and the guy has expressed an interest in going to the EPL, can we stand in his way ?

Ki had started the season really well, but the consistency issue has arisen again. The last two games he has been poor, as has the rest of the team, but he is seen as our creative option, so there is more onus on him. And if he is valued at £10m then surely he has to do more. Last night he was also involved in two of the goals we lost.

I think that if Lennon was looking to change things he would look at benching Ki and get Kayal and Ledley back into the two centre spots with Commons and Brown either side. It worked well last season.

The £10m valuations of Ki seem a long way off now, and I am concerned that he cant maintain a level of consistency in his game yet.

with an off form commons and no Izzy, there is a shocking lack of creativity in that line up, Ki may have had a bad game, but he is more creative than the likes of ledley, kayal, brown, no doubt and has worked well with kayal in the past, Ki should keep his spot imo

Yes I do. I think Ki is a very accomplished player with tremendous potential, and if he is played in the right league ( EPL or La Liga ) with a higher caliber of player beside him, he could make the step up just like Aiden is doing in Russia.

it wasnt his only mistake of the game. if you watch it again you will see he made at least 3 potentially fatal mistakes before THE fatal mistake. so the "he wont do it again" statement is optimistic. i do think he is a good player, but way over-hyped.

Your right about missing Izzy but I dont think that justifies Ki starting. For our most creative player he was pretty uncreative on Sunday, and was downright poor last night.

Ki just isnt consistent. And yes, there are others who are right off form, but Ki is the one getting all the plaudits and applause for being so creative. But he is just not consistent enough.

I dont think Lennon will drop him tbh, its just my opinion, and if he plays sunday, hopefully we will play better than the last two games.

but then, i havent really seen commons, ledley or brown create much in these games either, Ki had a bad one last night, but still played a lovely ball to cha which shoulda made a chance, and set up hooper for the offside goal, showing although making dumb mistakes, which it has to be said are uncharacteristic, he wasnt uncretive last night, the players that seem to create chances for us recently have been Ki, Maloney, Forrest and Paddy, one starts.

Agreed, but my point was the Neil maybe wants to look at going back to the midfield line up that played so well from January onwards.

Going by form and including last night, Ki is on a better run than Commons. I fail to see where the logic is in bringing Commons in, who has been consistently awful this season.

Going by form nobody in the last two games deserves a start.

My point was , again, Lenny may want to consider reverting to the midfield that played so well from January, regardless of form. And Ki, along with everyone else on the pitch would have no complaint about being dropped.

Commons has been given chances by Lennon "regardless of form" and Lenny has run out of patience.

He's playing people on merit, the way it should be done.

So why wasnt our top scorer this season playing last night?

I think this proves that Lenny will make changes regardless of form.

Top scorer doesn't necessarily equate to best form, but regardless, the reason Stokes was dropped - I believe - is he was one of Lennon's "targets" of that rant post-match St Johnstone.

I.e. not pulling his weight, not listening to instructions, head elsewhere, etc.

I do feel sorry for Stokes because he was pushed out wide left and also asked to play a lone striker role - neither of which he is suited. Obviously Lennon was less than happy with his performances and yes he did play poorly.

Ki has had a great start to the season, was alright against St Johnstone (in fact one of our best players of a bad bunch). I'll openly admit he was at fault for 2/3 major errors last night but that doesn't wipe out almost a year now of consistent excellence.
