Totally agree mick/ morgan you did,

on some of the earlier forums, if you remember, people were saying we were just signing him as a marketing ploy and he would be stuck in the reserves like mizuno, and he would struggle to adapt to the phisical aspect and the pace in the spl.

Sorry for the confusion guys :50:

Those are all valid concerns and relatively true.
He will struggle to adapt to the physical aspect of SPL.
He is being brought in for marketing -- but that doesn't mean he wasn't properly scouted or has no talent.

He very well may end up stuck in the reserves like Mizuno. Mizuno is the same talent level as Keisuke Honda -- currently lighting up Eredivisie. The difference? There was plenty of playing time at VVV for Honda to adapt to Europe and Dutch football. There is very little opportunity at Celtic to do that. We cannot afford to just play players in the hope that they will adapt and come true.

Honda's a very good player . Personally think hes a good bit better than Mizuno but I agree if Mizuno had a full season in a 2nd league in Europe then his game would have came on leaps and bounds. Holland is probly one of the easyest european leagues for players to adapt too.

I was mostly making the point based on how good they were in Japan before leaving. But I think the point can be made with many other players. Most of the successful Asian players in Europe started somewhere that gave them time to adapt first.

    Naka - Reggina relegation battle
Matsui - Le Mans relegation and promotion
Honda - VVV relegation and promotion
Morimoto - Catania relegation and promotion
Hasebe - started off as a utility player for Wolfsburg
    Park Chu-Young - starting with a mid-table Monaco
Lee Chung-Yong - not entirely sure how it's going with Bolton (I don't care about EPL) but it sounds good from what I've heard

    Some exceptions...
Park Ji-Sung - Hiddink trusted him completely at PSV
Ono - Feyenoord... 1 fantastic season out of nowhere and then injured. But this was also before the "marketing Asians" business started
Nakata - started the Asian marketing thing himself :31:
Inamoto - Arsenal; almost got a contract with Fulham but Phil Neville instead decided to break his leg in a "friendly" international. Go England! *.
    Mizuno - Meh.

I'm not sure if you're asking what # he is for Celtic or the videos I put up.
Sickbhoy covered what # he is for Celtic :50: -- he was #8 in the video. One of the videos has him getting fouled and taking a FK on goal.

Just had a wee bit to add to this thread.

It has been a while since a signing had pretty much everyone on the forum buzzing to see what he can do for Celtic.

Myself included. It's just nice to have that feeling back. :icon_mrgreen:
