K-League leaders FC Seoul have confirmed Celtic have expressed an interest in signing highly-rated South Korea midfielder Ki Sung-yong.
The Scottish Premier League side are due to meet 20-year-old Ki's representatives later today in London ahead of Wednesday's Champions League meeting with Arsenal.
'Celtic have informed us of their intentions about Ki Sung-yong,' Seoul's general manager Kang Myong-won told Sports Seoul.
'We understand that the player may want to move but this is not a good time for us to sell.'
Seoul are currently six points clear at the top of the K-League and will face Qatar's Umm Salal in the Asian Champions League quarter-finals next month

Another part of the market looking to be covered. Never know, the lad could be the next Park-Ji-Sung. Need to wait and see I suppose

Never seen the boy play (not that I remember).
Mowbray's transfers have been good so far so I've got faith in the big man.
Hopefully the boy signs and is ace -

Havent seen him play so dont know much about him

His team mate Lee Chung-Yong joined Bolton and both are rated quite highly and since I think he spent some time in Australia there shouldn't be a language barrier and the culture shock wouldn't be such an issue as for example with Koki and Naka.

looks a decent player. It's a part of the world we should be looking at. I'm sure there are quality players in Asia, plus the commercial side of things is an added bonus aswell.

never heard of the lad. hopefully one of our oriental followers can indulge us.
wiki says Porto, Hamburg and PSV have been linked with him in the past and that he has 'signed a 10 year deal' with us lol. -
Leone will be delighted.
I wouldn't mind seeing him here, we could use someone from Asia for our market there. And I hope he has what it takes to succeed at Celtic. -

it also says this bhoys,,so you never know?
FC Seoul refused an offer from Scottish club Glasgow Celtic for midfielder Ki Sung-yueng last week, saying the player is too vital to the team.
``Celtic sent us an official offer, which includes the transfer fee offer. We sent it to FC Seoul,'' an official at IB Sports, Lee's agency, told The Korea Times, Tuesday. ``The transfer fee is between 2 million euros (3.5 billion won or $2.9 million) and 3 million euros (5.3 billion won or $4.3 million).''
If FC Seoul had accepted the transaction, it would have been one of the most expensive deals ever for a K-League player.
