people say that nobody is singling him out or putting the defeat on him, maybe it's not that, but certainly labelling him a liability is not correct in my view.

the reason is that he hasn't played much when kayal and hooper are playing at the same time. he looked fine in the cup tie at mordor

A manager once said that the best players dont always make the best team. And I think Ki is a case in point. He has bags of ability, but his work rate and physical attributes, or lack of them, let him down. Ledley probably isnt better but... he works better beside Kayal, and this is good for the team.

So based on that, it has to be Kayal and Ledley in the CM. Ki is a good back up, to come on. But as was seen today, we need to battle for this title. Its not going to be given to us just because we have good players.

i agree with some of your point, but ki hasnt had the chance to play beside kayal, so there is every possibility that kayal/ki mid would be better

Good post, the evidence is certainly there to suggest that Ki does not have the fight in him to help us wrestle the title back from the huns.

Common misconception. He runs more than most players. Certainly in the Asian Cup he was more often than not the player who covered the most ground in a match.

In all due respect Format, whatever he done in the Asian Cup matters not a * to Celtic.

i think its more his hassleing and closing down that folk think is below par rather than the amount of ground he covers(he gets back and forward well), and i would agree that does need improving

It matters in the respect that it shows he has the aptitude and physical ability to cover as much ground as anyone at the club.

You also have to be team player, which at times means defending from the front nevermind the middle of the park. Which Ki seems incapable of doing. The SPL is a tough physical league and we can't afford to carry players when we are under the cosh

The point is, all of his starts have been with Ledley, so it's not fair to say he doesn't fit. Can we wait till he's played ONE game with Kayal before we claim he doesn't fit.

Like Evilbunny said earlier, people are just seeing him "as the guy who came in for Kayal".

Most people thought that Ki was the better of the Ledley-Ki partnership at the start of the season and I'm pretty sure a decent amount of people voted Ki as the player we'd like to see with Kayal. Ledley's done well while Ki's been away at the Asia cup, but I personally think Ki can do the same and more.

Looking forward to the Ki show on wednesday! :86:

I agree that Ki is a liability at the present time, the team were really motoring up to today's game, fast attractive football flowed, great defensive support from the midfielders and telling passes to our forwards, okay the park played it's part in reducing the entertainment value, but the Celtic team were different tactical.

Ki is a good player, but he is all one pace. There never appears to be any urgency in his play, I do worry about this defensive abilities, he a big guy, but get beat too easily in too many tackles.

But it's what he does in a Celtic shirt that counts...and I'm willing to bet my reputation on it that there are plenty of players who surpass him in the ground covered statistics this season.

Sadly he's a cert to start given that Ledley is suspended, regardless of formation.
