of course we watch the games....theres no doubt he looks dodgy in some games, not just the old firm one, at least Mulgrew can pass, most of wilsons punts go to noone

watch the hearts game back and you will se it was him who made a superb pass for the 3 or 4 goal to get sammy on the run, and they only time a have seen him punt or head the ball to nobody is when he realizes that he doesn't have the time to get the ball on the deck

To be fair i think as Celtic fans over the years we have experienced looking at some generally sub-par defenders, so i have this integrated reaction in me to really get quite nervous with some of our CB's, as i have said the only 2 at the club i have full confidence in is Mulgrew and Rogne, to me sometimes Maj and Wilson look like a disaster waiting to happen.

Maybe this reaction is simply because of the tripe we have had in the past but i remain to be convinced by Wilson.

a think the big problem is people assumed he was this big tank that would just go straight through people which isn't the case

I like the look of Wilson, hes solid and quick and is decent on the ball. He's like Rogne with pace, apart from that mistake against the huns, hes been completely solid.

In his 15 appearances to date we've kept 11 clean sheets :50:

I like him, he knows how to use his pace and rogne knows how to put his napper through high balls.

Aye two good options to partner Mulgrew.

For home SPL games id go with Wilson as his pace is good to cover us being hit on the break. Rogne is of more use away and probably in Huns games where they usually use the long ball and hes good in the air.

Im really happy with Mulgrew and Rogne or Mulgrew and Wilson. Will be interesting who Lenny goes with in the Cup final(s) and Hun games.

Since Wilson come back from injury he's played in 8 games and we've conceded 1 goal, that last minute goal in his first game back against Kilmarnock where the guy hit a shot from about 25 yards.

Can't think of much he's done wrong bar his blunder at Ibrox. Looks like a reliable, decent defender to me.

He's a modern centre half; incredibly quick over the ground and decent with the ball. Allows us to hold a much higher line and turn the screw on teams by pressing them into their own half.

    A very useful tactical deployment.

though he has been good since coming back into the fold. has had some nervous moments though in nearly every game he has started. hopefully, it's just him still adapting and getting properly fit.

we're starting to look like we're getting the depth in defence as we do in midfield. albeit not to the same level but it does seem we've shifted our attention towards sorting the defence out in the last couple of windows. if we can get anywhere near the level of depth of quality in defence and attack as we do in midfield, we'd have an even greater squad.

He'll go with Rogne & Wilson at centre half and Mulgrew at left back if they're all fit for the big games.

Aye he probably will actuallly. I think he will only actually do that to play all 3 though tbh to stop selection problems. Like when Kayal was fit he played Ledley at left-back so that he didnt need to drop Brown/Forrest/Wanyama/Kayal/Sammy etc

Seems too convenient to delay players coming back from injuries returns just so that you dont have to drop a good player :97: lol

Wonder what would happen if Commons, Izaguirre and Kayal were all fit and on form.

tbh, he doesnt fill me with confidence at all. i know that statistically, the defence is good with him in it, but he just doesnt seem to dominate the defence in the same way that rogne does. imo, shouldnt be starting ahead of rogne or mulgrew.

thats because he is the complete opposite of rogne and the way he plays isn't about dominating. its about his pace and footballing ability

There's a casualness about his game which i'm not a huge fan of. Good passer. Does seem to be improving.

Part of the game I hate but he's generally pretty good at shepherding the ball out of play.
