Right - let's take stock of all the midfielders we have at the club......

Commons, Forrest, McCourt, Ibrahim, McGeouch, Wanyama, Brown, Kayal, Ki, Ledley, Juarez.

If we are seriously looking at Andrews, I'd be inclined to think that 2-3 of those players will be moving on.

It does look like a lot on paper but really he would only be in direct competition with Brown, Kayal, Ki and Ledley - Wanyama has been playing deeper of late and the others are either getting punted or play wide.

I remember us all thinking the same when he went for Kayal that there was no space for him...Lenny does like to have an abundance of midfield options.

if we were to get 4 million for ki and 500k for paddy and mabye 1 million for juarez and bring andrews in , that would leave alot of money added to whatever lennon has been promised for his key signings

Celtic urged to move fast to snap up Republic of Ireland's Keith Andrews

STV 31 May 2012 10:57 BST [IMG] Keith Andrews is available on a free transfer from West Bromwich Albion.SNS Group

Ray Houghton has urged Celtic to press ahead with their interest in signing Republic of Ireland international Keith Andrews.
The SPL champions have reportedly held talks with the 31-year-old over a Bosman move to Glasgow, after his short-term contract with West Bromwich Albion expired.
Andrews is said to have been offered a deal to stay in England’s top flight but Houghton believes Celtic should act now to pull off a signing “coup”.
“Keith would be a tremendous acquisition for Celtic,” Houghton told the Daily Record. “He has a fantastic attitude and is a born winner. He loves a challenge and is not afraid to put his foot in.
“He also has a great engine, can get up and down the park and weighs in with the odd goal now and then.
“This boy can play and I would be absolutely delighted if Celtic signed him as it would be a real coup for the club.
“I am sure Celtic will be among a number of clubs looking to sign Keith after the Euros.
“Champions League football could help Celtic as he has done a lot in his career but he has not played in Europe’s elite club competition. That’s a big draw for any player.”
Andrews is in the Republic of Ireland squad for the European Championships and is expected to be a first choice for manager Giovanni Trapattoni’s side.
The former Blackburn Rovers player had a spell on loan at Ipswich Town last season and previously played for MK Dons, Hull City, Walsall, Stoke City, Oxford United and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Wanyama may well stay deeper this season which only really leaves the two. I'm all for signing him, I think someone else mentioned he would do the Robson/Hartley role well and does like to shoot from distance, something we've left behind of late.

I think my interest is dependant on a lot of deadwood shifting though. Which I'm sure they will..........

I don't think it's politically-correct to call his life-partner missus......I mean, for all we know, Jason Roberts might be the husband in that particular relationship

I don't think anyone is saying our midfield is beyond improvement, just that keith andrews wouldn't improve it.

We have limited funds and other areas of the team need to be improved far more than midfield. Also Andrews wouldn't be an improvement on what we currently have.

McGeouch and Twarzdik can also be thrown in there, especially McGeouch as I think he will feature far more regularly than he did last season.

    Glowing tribute from Ray Houghton.
We need to snap this guy up, just what we need in the engine room of our team. I suspect Ki. Juarez and McCourt are going. And I think we will get more value and worth from Andrews than any of those three aforementioned gave us.

Decent player but we have absolutely no need to sign him. We are more than covered in that area of the team

Hope we don't sign him, whats the point to be honest? Not saying he isn't good enough but we have Kayal, Ledley, Wanyama, Ki, Brown and young players coming through, who would he replace? Who is he better than out of them five named?
Think we should focus on Forster, a centre half and striker, then look at reinforcing other areas if we need re-inforcements but not centre mid!

I dont think anybody can deny he is a good player and would be for us but we seriously dont need another centre midfielder at all.
