All of our current midfielders have more experience than Andrews in European club competition...

Slating Andrews is a bit out of order

He would breeze through the SPL

And your point is? He is a squad player for us despite all that experience. Lacks consistency, and at times, lacks the desire as well.

So much pro-Irish bias in this thread, it's unreal.

He'd be great in the SPL, yes; but this is not the kind of signing we need for Europe, or for the progression of this side in general. He's good and experienced, but we have so many more of his kind (albeit with less experience); he'd break the wage structure massively too. He has European standard experience, yes, but not European standard raw quality. We need both.

Not fan of ki either but he has just as much experience as Andrews so bringing in Andrews for experience is pointless, we should avoid Andrews an sell ki imo.

Disagree with the first part. There are only 1 or 2 people saying they would like Andrews, celtic<3 is pro Irish and prob a bit bias, but there are a few Ireland players he dislikes aswell and he doesnt just rate a player on their nationality.

I so obviously never even implied that. There just seems to be a general overrating of him by some people on this thread, seemingly based on his nationality.

Any claim about a player which could be summed up in a sentence starting with 'He's Irish so...' and ending in an assessment of his ability (whether negative or positive) is hugely discriminatory and almost certainly incorrect.

I'm not being funny, but those who watch Ireland throughout qualifying campaigns have a better platform to stand on IMO. Doubt many people watched Ipswich last year.

Was directing it at the general consensus, not at you mate. But I believe some Scots on here are instinctively dismissing him because we get linked with so many average Irish players, and are in the mindset that this guy must be one too. Anti-Irish bias I would go as far to say.

Ki doesnt have the experience that comes with age. Andrews will have that. Ki has played in tournaments, but he is inconsistent t the moment.

Older players tend to be more consistent with their form and play. I agree we should offload Ki before his contract runs down. To be honest I havent seen loads of Andrews, but he seems to be dismissed a little too easy. If he was available at a good price, and a fair wage then he seems to be a worthy addition.

And he isnt too old. Unlike Maj and Freddie, who were just past it in my opinion.

He is being under rated, I never ever comment on a player being linked with our club unless I've seen him play or have something that I know about him, the fact I'm saying Andrews would be a good player for us is because I've seen him play regularly for a few years now, he has done well for Ireland and against some very good opposition aswell, it has nothing to do with the fact he is Irish.

I am not stupid enough to base my opinion of a player on whether he is from the same country as me.

People think they are smart coming in this thread after seeing him come up against one of the worlds best midfielders and an overall top class team and saying he's *, the current celtic midfield would get absolutey destroyed by Croatia's midfield, lets be honest.

Decent player that would bring experience but I still don't think we need him.

Wages would be better spent elsewhere.

Bet people seen him play for West Brom though. I certainly did and that is where I get my opinion from.

I would like to see the current Celtic midfield up against that midfield; I don't think it'd be quite 'destroyed'. Modric is the only one there who is so far away from the rest but I'd be interested to see how Wanyama and Kayal get on against that type of player. I reckon they'd do not too bad.

Onto Andrews, you are basing your judgement on him on the performances he has for Ireland. A completely different team than Celtic, set up completely differently and with a different emphasis of expectation on them.

Andrews would be expected to not only be hardworking and a good tackler, he'll need to be good at that, good at breaking up play, good on the ball, versatile enough to change positions with other players when it is called for due to the fluiditity of our play.

Expected to get forward and back in equal measure.

I don't think that's something I've seen in Andrews. He's a decent player, he's just not good enough or a good suit for Celtic.

All us Irish lads aren't being biased talking about Andrews, We are the people that watch him play for Ireland so I am pretty sure we have watched him a lot more than everyone else that is on here slating him. We aren't saying that he would walk in to our team we are just trying to give the rest of you an insight as to what he is like he always gives 100% no matter who he plays for and for those saying he hasn't played many games so he must be * just think about how EPL fans would think about Stokesy. They would think he plays in a * league and cant even start most of the games he must be * and he's not even in the Ireland team

I don't think that's true but there is nothing wrong with that, I do the same with Celtic and Scotland and it's hard not to.

Do you know in Scotland we do have access to Ireland games, the Premiership and Championship games? :97:
