If we were going to pay 20k a week for a player, I would want him to be much better than Keith Andrews, that is the wages we should be paying a top CB or Striker if we get one, not an ageing CM who will not be first choice (or second, third, fourth and fifth imo).

Also, Deebo every single CM at the club is better than Andrews.

He had an OK game, but not very good. Also I think, kayal, ledley, wanyama and brown are better than Andrews.

we are not going to get a top striker or cb only on 20k a week? and i would have thought andrews would be on lower wages that that to be honest, more like 10-15k a week.

I don't agree that every single cm at the club is better than him.

Ok, maybe not 20k, but I'd rather it was going to one of them rather than Andrews, especially when midfield is our strongest area.

    Who is worse than him?

    Kayal - better
    Ledley - better
    Ki - better
    Brown - better
    Wanyama - better

We will get a top class plyer for that wage, Izzy, Hooper, Kayal and Wanyama are all under that wage bracket.

Ledley is around £25k so not much more. Wee James Forrest and Commons, less than that.

I would be astonished if Andrews is on anything like 20k a week, Charlton wont have the resources to pay that money. Otherwise their wage bill would be as much as ours and that would also be astonished.

And if they do, good luck to Andrews. More like he is on @ £10k a week.

    This.

    Although I'd say

    Kayal - much better
    Ledley - much better
Ki - better with potential to be much better
Wanyama - better with potential to be much better
    Brown - better.

Im going to get absolutely bashed for saying this but I think Andrews could do just as good if not a better job than Ki or Brown. He's got good experience now against top international opponents and has played at the highest level.

There is absolutely no guarantee we'll pull off signings as good as Izzy, Hooper,Kayal or Wanyama again this summer, they were great pieces of business and they could all easily move onto the EPL for higher wages.

We would not get a proven, top player on 20k a week.

I don't care if he's recognized by more people he's playing one of the biggest leagues in the world. But he isn't better than kayal brown wanyama or ledley.

Does everyone remember the excitement when we signed Mulgrew?? Yeah, me too.

My point? The best players dont always make the best team. I agree that Kayal, Ledley, Wanyama and Brown are probably better players. But what Andrews would bring would be the experience that comes with being in that 30/31 age group.

We have been sorely missing someone that can come in and give us a consistency that comes with age, and experience.

Also, we need to remember the transfer level we are working in. We arent going to pay £7/8m for top drawer players. And for every Wanyama or Ledley there are plenty of Murphy's, Rasmussens, Mizunos, Bangura's etc.

We just seem keen to right someone like this off. As I said before, I havent seen loads of him, but he looked fine for Ireland the other night, one of their better players.

    Or Ki.

He's a half decent, hardworking journeyman.

A Lee McCulloch if you will.

While I agree 100% with you Kemo, I don't think Andrews is the player to bring this. I would rather have somebody upfront and in defence brought in with a load of experience.

He was chasing shadows the other night couldn't get near modric unless he fouled him and got booked. He was hardly the best player he missed a free header from a few yards as well. Doyle was the only pass mark for Ireland

McCulloch minus the elbows and kicks.

We could get a top player for around 25-30k a week. I'd much rather see the 20k that Andrews would seemingly demand and the wages of someone like Rasmussen or O'Dea or McGinn go towards a good solid CB or a targetman, rather than a player we definitely do not need.

Agreed. I think kayal could already be our cool head in the middle. Need it up top and at the back more than the middle.

He got some good tackles in and worked very hard. Also got into some clever positions.

I would be interested in seeing how Joe Ledley, Scott Brown or Ki would cope against Modric and Rakitic ffs.

And for me the only players that got pass marks were Duff and St.Ledger. Duff won several free kicks in dangerous positions and St.Ledger was steady I thought, and got the goal.

Scott Brown is also experience in the Champions League and Internationally.
Ki has experienced the likes of the world cup...

Keith Andrews has had about 200 games in his long career, averaging less than 20 a season. He isn't super experienced. No more than Broony anyway.

Sums him up hard worker but an absolute donkey not the best in possession either.

They'd do alot better and offer us something going forward as well unlike Andrews.

Don't know why you're calling him an absolute donkey, I honestly dont see how anyone could call him that.

Going forward Andrews, as I have said a few times before in this thread, nearly averaged a goal every second game in the Championship, arguably a stronger league than the Spl this season. So I dont see how you can say he offers nothing going forward either.

Technically he's pish his range of passing is pathetic like bamby on ice at times when he is on the ball. Huddersfield and charlton are fighting for his signature ffs. Adam scored a handful of goals in the championship?

There is no point in wasting 20k a week on bench warmers.

There is the experience of taking part in events and tournaments and the experience of playing for 10/12 years at a good level. That is what Andrews would give us.

Ki doesnt have a level of consistency that can get him a start at us, pretty amazing for a guy with so much experience. And I like Brown, so no argument there. But again, can be a little inconsistent at times.
