    If its a case of they really wanted him and couldn't afford him (a la Commons) then that's fine with me.

    If its a case of us doing to them what they always do to us and stealing their targets (commons ledley LOOVENS haha) I wouldn't like that too much as I think we have proven we have a much better scouting system and if the best we could do is a former Hun target I would be nervous to say the least.

    Only 1 problem i can see with this signing - African Cup of Nations.
    We will lose him for 4-6 weeks in January/February this season.
    A crucial period in the League run-in i think you'll all agree.

    Woah, whats with the caps man? :56:

    The African Cup of Nations runs from January 21st to February 21st. Plus 2 weeks before they are called up to the squad usually.
    When is our winter break?

    Yet another target thats failing to inspire or impress. He looks nothing more than decent. A squad player maybe?

    Sorry about that,
    my mistake, the earlier start to the season is to better prepare those teams involved in Europe , and to help reduce the number of midweek games that inevitably pile up over the winter months.:50:

    Thanks.

    Could that have been more immaturity than anything else? Possibly doing a bit of soul searching but too young to do it properly?

    Either that or too much of that tree-bark tea and he went for a 4 day walk in the desert :56:

    I've got a south African friend on FB, His assessment is;

    'he is strong and fast. his first touch is dangerous once he got the ball near the box or inside it will be a score. he uses both legs. a good striker'

    I asked if he thought Mphela would do well over here & in Europe;

    'yes he will play. l dont think he can fail. l can compare him with Didier Drogba of chelsea'

    If the lad plays as he's been discribed here, by someone who's seen him play regularly, then get him signed!

    He seems up for a European challenge. To be fair to him, it's quite clear he's above Sundowns level and could've made a move sooner.

    But forcing a move by disappearing like that, pretty immature. Also read he got done for drunk driving (I don't see it as a big issue personally) and received some abuse from South Africa fans.

    Too much trouble around him, but this chance is too good to pass up, so hopefully he sorts his attitude and gives his best on this trial.

    If he comes on trial with us i guarentee lenny will sign him, he is a decent finisher and is pretty pacey, technicaly pretty good and he,s a clever player who is good on the ball and makes good runs, a hope he signs a really do, he is a player who i would say would get us 20 a season no problem:50:

    samaras, s finishing would make this guys look like romario to us :50:

    things are looking brighter on this target then. if he's got the talent i have no doubt we'll sign him now.

    in my ideal world, i'd punt Rasmussen and Samaras and get Mphela, depending on his talent, and McFadden in. i know it won't happen as Samaras won't leave in this window and i think we'll only get one striker in. wished we get two in as i can't see Murphy, Samaras or Rasmussen scoring much. i'm all for keeping Murphy as 5th choice as long as we bring in two as i don't think he'll be on much wages and won't command that great a fee.
