I think you are right and he'll be number 1 next season (has he actually signed?) but Sinisalo should be getting a share of game time too.

His form wasn't as good as early season recently, that needs to be a factor we recognise and plan for.

The error was so egregious that this Cup final will forever be remembered as the day that Kasper blew the Treble. Given his age he cannot be a guaranteed starter for next season. If he doesn't like that, well sorry mate you've had a long career and won plenty so can't really complain.

Make raffle tickets with the names of everyone who played (subs included). Remove the tickets with CCV and Forrest's names and stick all the rest in a hat. Whichever name you draw, they played a part in blowing the treble.

It would be incredibly harsh of us to just blame Schmeichel.

I think you are right for a number of reasons, and you are brave enough to say it.

For a start, if Brendan had the balls to play Sinisalo, we would have been treble winners.
Even if it had gone to penalty kicks, I think Sinisalo would have saved one or more of them.
He is far more agile, lithe and athletic.
Aberdeen's game plan was to play for penalties, which they executed very well.

Aberdeen had done their homework on Schemeichel well, and battered their penalties high to Schemeichel right, they knew Schemeichel did not have the lift to get off the ground.

before the pens I said to the fella next to me its advantage Aberdeen. The momentum had swung their way, plus their keeper had raced out and smothered the shot from Maeda not long before. BR had taken off most of the lads I'd have fancied to score a pen.

how can the fanbase have confidence in Kasper for next season? He'll be almost 39 in August. More to the point, would his team-mates have confidence in him, even if BR gives him the shirt??

Aberdeen going 5-3-2 spooked us I think, it shouldn't have, but it did. We got slightly fortunate for the in off goal, but we had about 80% possession, and struck the post with Engels, so just about deserved that lead. Big mistake for me was Brendan whipping off Engels, Kuhn and Idah on the 67th minute, far too early when we were still chasing the killer second goal, and it spooked us again, and made us toothless upfront. Even then we were still coasting to victory with Aberdeen showing very little penetration, until Schemeichels almighty clanger, and then the roof fell in on us. I knew we weren't scoring in extra time, and Aberdeen were going to win on penalties, because our two best penalty kickers had been taken off by Brendan. I still can't understand why he done that, but even so, there is no legislating for Schemeichel's moment of madness.

You always fancy the team that parked the bus in penalties. It's a big psychological victory essentially playing for pens and getting there after 120 minutes. While Kasper plays his part in giving Aberdeen oxegen it wasn't just his mistake that made that happen. Saturday should have no real bearing on if he starts next season, that should be decided with decent competition in preseason. Personally felt we missed a massive opportunity a few weeks ago not giving sinisalo the jersey till the end of the season ( a few dead rubbers and a cup final). Kasper could have put the feet up, went on holiday and came back fresh for one last season with confidence high.

Agree here, he did have a howler but he also was the one who saved the penalty in the league cup final so we won 5-4. He more than did his bit in the CL and has by and large been a very good signing for us.

Fancied him to save a couple of penalties after the mistake. Just a total disaster of a day for him.

But he's been a good signing this season. A double-winning goalkeeper and has more than played his part.

    No1 next season still.
So he never got close to a pen,big deal..happens quite a lot you know!
Hopefully Sinisalo gets more game time throughout next season as no doubt will be no1 season after. If all goes to plan!.

He shouldn't be playing international football at his age.

I realize he's a legend for Denmark, but his body obviously can't handle that amount of games.

Especially when he comes back from injury so overweight.

He's been brilliant for us, get off his back.

It's never a single incident that decides a game that lasts 120mins, that's just lazy and convenient for those looking for a scapegoat or don't have the ability to consider the whole game.

In any game it's thousands of moments in combination and overall, we were poor, negative, lethargic as a whole team that couldn't score a goal themselves in 120mins - not for the first time.
    That's why we lost.

Can't really remember seeing him saving and thinking wow that was a class save.

He has come in and done a job and a decent one at that but father time waits for no man.

Next season needs to be Sinisalo's break out year.

People really have turned on him. Yeah he made a howler but how * were the rest of the team to not score past a dire Aberdeen team? The Aberdeen penalties were all really good, I think all of ours except McCowan's were savable. Rodgers took off Idah and Engels leaving us weak at penalties.

He has a lot of credit in the bank from me.

Still disappointed with him but a mistake in the nets is like anywhere else on the pitch - it's usually a goal for the opposition.

He was being overpraised at the start of the season on here, now being overly criticised.

Good keeper, but we do need to take note and next year for me should be a transition year from him to Sinisalo. If that's not working out then we can at least start preparing.

The real fault here is with the manager not Kasper. It's BR who picks the team after all. Schmeichel has done well for us on the whole but he's not the keeper he was 5 years ago and is at an age where his form will only get worse. Sinisalo should have kept his place but Rodgers wanted KS back, a decision that ultimately cost us the cup and a treble. The worst thing is, no matter how well Sinisalo performs in pre-season(or how poorly KS does), we all know Schmeichel will start the new campaign as number 1.

It's literally the only mistake I can recall this season that he made that directly led to a goal. Could be wrong.

But people going way OTT. We will get another good year out of him, easy. He'd saved us a lot more times than he let us down.

It's very very hard to get a GK who won't make at least one howler a season. Boruc still my favourite ever but look at what he could do at times.

Forster arguably the most consistent we've had.
