After overcoming horrendous conditions at Pittodrie on Wednesday night, the weather at Celtic Park this afternoon were positively tropical in comparison.

And whilst the weather may have been different today, the end result was the same - another victory and another three points for the champions.

Goals from Arne Engels and Kyogo, intersected by an own-goal from Joe Newell, gave the Celts a 3-0 victory over Hibernian which puts Brendan Rodgers’ side nine points clear at the top of the table.

Despite the one-sided scoreline, Hibernian managed to forge a number of good opportunities throughout the match, with Celtic’s No. 1, Kasper Schmeichel on top form to keep the efforts out.

His performance earned the Danish internationalist the Man of the Match award, and speaking to Celtic TV alongside Alistair Johnston after today’s match, the Celtic goalkeeper explained that the most important thing to him is to be part of a winning team.

“Goalkeeping has evolved,” he said. “It’s rare that you have games like that where you have a lot of saves. Everything is with your feet these days.

“I think that’s the role that I play here, but my job is to keep the ball out of the net and today was a good day.

'At the end of the day it’s all about winning. Clean sheets are nice but they’re not the most important thing.'

“They’re not the end of the world, but it always gives you a platform to go and win.

“My job is to keep the team in the game and it’s up to this lot to go and finish the game off.

Celtic’s opener came from Arne Engels after some good play between Nicolas Kuhn and Alistair Johnston, with the latter speaking after the match about the relationship that he is building with Kuhn on the right wing for the Hoops.

He added: “I’ve built a really connection with Nic, he understands when to play me on the overlap.

“Guys know that when I get to the line, they’ve to get to the near post. I think it was a fairly routine finish for Arne in the end.

“I was happy for him to get on the scoresheet and for us to get that early goal

Mind the first month all the chat was about him not being tested....well he has been recently!

Still got it. Best keeper we've had in my time...just wish we'd got him a bit younger. He can do it all.

He really is top drawer. He has everything you'd want in a goalie these days.

    Has everything..

What a brilliant keeper he is. Safe hand. Unbelievably cool distribution. Off the chest..

    Makes everything look easy..

When was the last time we've won by 3 domestically and our keepers been given motm. Has it ever happened?

Not that I can remember. Maybe a first? Wish the club would say when it’s little stats/facts like that

He’s class. I’m certain someone touched on it yday in one of the threads. Premier league clubs paying mad fees like 40m+ etc for keepers like Onana and we got in schmeichel for free. Mental.
What a signing he’s been so far. Hopefully he extends his contract

His footwork and confidence with the ball at his feet is sensational. Looks like he could easily play outfield. Saves yesterday undoubtedly won us 3 points.

My genuine biggest concern is that he has such a high degree of sympathy for his under study Sinisalo (he does work with him every day and so will not only have a working relationship but also a personal one you would imagine) watching on from the bench all season that he might just decide to move on at the end of the season to make way for him, hopefully * not though

As a man, outstanding. As a goalkeeper, still one of the elite keepers in Europe.

    A gem of a signing.

Saw a stat on Twitter, current Scottish top flight record holder for number of clean sheets over a 38 game season is Forster with 23 during the 11/12 season, Schmeichael currently on 12 clean sheets from 15 games, well on course to smashing it

To think too that of the 4 league goals we've conceded, one was a massive deflection and another was a pen (which Schmeichael originally saved even if he was off his line), mental

He’s been a top, top signing. His distribution is second to none.

Class. You just know Kasper will leave here with the same feelings about the club as Hart. Two top, top players who fully get just how special we are.

Our best player over the last several games. Might just be our best player full stop.
