As ILTC says our young teams always seem to do well in these prestigious tournaments, but how many of them actually go one to have careers with us?

For years I've wanted us to be bringing through more youth players into the first-team.

We had a good spell when Strachan took over. Maloney, McGeady, McManus, O'Dea Marshall, Wallace, Caddis and Beattie all featured under Strach. In the couple of years prior to that we had Bhoys like Crainey, Kennedy, Miller and Smith in and around the team. You can almost make a decent XI out of that.

Since then we've only had Forrest, Watt and Tierney break through - and two of them have * their ability up a wall.

So between roughly 2000-05 we produced about 11 decent players, but in the 10 years since i can only think of three.

    I understand the excitement.

However, I doubt he'll turn down any inevitable calls from the EPL clubs. We can cite that * Feruz to him all we want but I can see the same happening.

We signed Watt from Airdrie where he was already in the first team.

Probably the same when you look at 90% of clubs. Should be loaning as many out as possible to other Premier division teams/ English Championship or foreign leagues like Belgium/Austria /Denmark etc instead of sending them to Alloa and Raith Rovers where they get lured into hit and rush football instead of improving their technical ability to step up a level.

Until this season, the best player to come through the youth system since McGeady was James Forrest.

Forrest was the best player from the youth system in 10 years. Think about that. It's actually shocking really.

At the moment I wouldn't be worried, apparently lots of top European teams have been sniffing round this lad for the past few years but he and his family have always rebuffed their interest and insisted that he is committed to trying to make it at Celtic.

It's really poor. We made all the right noises about being better at this kind of thing, and we've produced a handful of players since - only one of whom is a regular at Celtic now.

We can't seem to produce strikers whatsoever.

Our track record with midfielders/wingers/defenders is not bad, with Forrest, McManus, McGeady, Maloney, O'Dea and a few others, but we've not produced a proper good striker out of our youth academy in this century.

I think Watt could have been something special for us, but clearly his mind was elsewhere after that night against Barca. Shame really.

I know we signed him from Airdrie too, but he was still only 18 when he scored that goal.

Is there a squad list somewhere of this lad's side?

I noticed the number 9, N'Diaye I think it was, grabbed a couple goals as well. Seems to be a few from foreign descent in there.
