Canny win sometimes, every * moans about our defence getting bullied then we’re linked with someone big and obviously going to be slower (not even close to Duffy or Phillips level of slow) so now moan he’s too slow.

Any player that’s 6ft 4 plus with power and pace that can pass a ball is already way outside our market unless we get them young in which case means mistakes and risk.

    Ruthless this gaff :giggle1:

To be fair I do get it. Does look a bit basic and hurried on the ball and no particularly quick..

Trusty is 6'3 and fairly quick. There's players out there. Always is.

Forget height, ability with the ball and so on. Slow centre backs are not what we need. From watching those highlights, is he any better than Scales?

Aye it's quite mental how quickly folk have turned opinion on this one :56:

Video he obviously does look slow, but at the same time, he makes up for that by reading the game well. His positioning is good.
Calm, composed, confident on the ball, reads the game well, marks his man good and even when his man gets by him, his strength and size allows him to time a tackle to get the ball if needed.

More than happy to see this one go through.
Seen plenty of videos of players looking sensational, only to be a flop and vice versa.

Aye looks very slow. Intercepts quite well but alot of them look like he should be clearing after the interception and doesn't get on the end of them to stop them going out of play.

Trusty is not as strong and powerful enough though, like I said to find a player with all the attributes we want they’d likely outwith our price range.

I’d rather have a centre back that can read the game properly than be quicker.

Trusty does have it in him though. It's more a mental thing in my opinion and something I hope we've been working on him with as the tools are there, we've seen it at the highest level..

I hear what you're saying about reading the game. Very important for a centre half but if you don't have a decent amount of pace in our back line, with how high a line we play, how our fullbacks sometimes bomb on, then no matter how well you read the game....you'll be exposed with balls in behind..

I try not to dwell on youtube videos anymore, some can be deceiving. Does feel like some people are just waiting to jump down the throat of our signings, even had a few unhappy with Nygren, who is a fantastic signing in general.

The way I see it, hes 6 foot 5, had two excellent seasons in Portugal and seems well rated over there.

If we bring him in and get rid of Trusty, I'd be a bit worried as there'd be a lack of pace at the back, but if we get rid of Scales and replace him with this guy, I'd be more than happy with that.

But does that improve our strongest starting team?

We currently have 3 left footed centre backs. None of them are close to CCV's level. What's the point signing another one unless he's a significant upgrade on Trusty and Scales?

Now, this guy could well be brilliant. But in a video that's supposed to sell the guy and show his best bits, he doesn't look like what we need at all.

CCV and a quality LCB, with Trusty, Scales and Murray as back ups is what we have to be going with.

He'd very likely be sn upgrade on Scales. In that case I wouldn't mind him and Trusty battling for the left side..

Must be some big, quick, physical types that can pass and be better suited to us out there though?

    Nah don't see it tbh.

Rodgers has spoken about bringing 1 more in to go with Scales, Trusty and CCV so I really can't see it being another left footer.

Particularly not when the only right footed CB we have is the most injury prone of the 3

I don't disagree mate, I'd always prefer a stronger, faster CB, but I won't always discount slower ones if they have other attributes to back it up.

Arguably Trusty is the perfect CB in that regard, quick, strong, good with the ball and tall, just lacks that concentration and can be a bit of a coward at times.

I think it's just the constant negativity around our targets that's annoying me tbh, seemingly everyone is nitpicking every player we're linked with, and the negativity seems a lot worse than usual currently, despite us having a decent start in the market for once.

Not even on this guy, I 100% get where people are coming from on his pace, but I don't think this link was an hour old before people started saying he wasn't good enough.

De Haas looks competent to me, and I don't think he looks slow. What more can we expect in the £3M market ?.
Speed is not everything if you don't know what to do with it. Bernabei and Mikey were fast but their end product was trash.

De Haas looks an aggressive 6'4' CB who knows how to clear his lines, tackles well, and wins his aerial duels, something we have lacked for a while.
