juarez dive!?

Discussion in 'Celtic Chat' started by alsybhoy, Sep 20, 2010.

  1. Ofcourse i complained but i certainly dont complain when one of the players form the team i support do it , its not a big deal if he dived , most players do it to get away from getting a serious injury, half the time they dive is when the see a bad tackle coming there way

  2. It was a blatant dive, I was a bit embarrassed by it tbh.

  3. I would class it as cheating as trying to get a player booked by rolling around in "agony" when there was no contact is cheating imo, it's trying to gain an unfair advantage.

  4. Spot on :50: I can't believe people are trying to defend him! I personally hope he stamps it out his game, it's embarassing! If he doesn't then he is going to be denied a legitimate penalty sooner rather than later when he gets a reputation!

  5. your havin a laugh

  6. Was a dive but let`s bring it back to after the uefa cup final in seville, the former sfa chief executive said " It`s part and parcel of european football and Celtic will just have to get used to it". Heard that from many a pundit in scottish. Could be argued that Juarez took evasive action as the boy dived into the challange. Although the boy dived into the tackle there`s no doubt juarez dived, must say I was a little dissapointed myself ( But I`m Over it already).

  8. suspended for what?

  9. So in other words, we won't need to rest him then.

  10. it actually helps us if hes not flying halfway accross the world for internationals :50:

  11. Looked like he dived over him which i would do to instead of getting injured.

  12. that's a shock, 6 months is extremely harsh imo! Mexico will be weakened considerably without those two

  13. It was a definite foul in my book and sometimes players feel the need to embellish this by hitting the deck. Much like when a strikers arm is tugged in the box he'll go down (Chamakh tonight for Arsenal). There's no need to go down but you need to force the ref to make the correct decision instead of playing on.

The rolling around however was inexcusable and embarrassing. Less of that please!

  14. Saw this live on tv and it looked legit at full speed, but replay was clearly a dive... Thing was, I realised this before the replay when it was clear that he took a sneaky look up when the ref blew to see whether it was him or the killie player the foul was given against, before putting his head back down and laying down a bit longer. Not nice, but I think he'd made his bed by that stage and had to lie in it!
Not keen on anyone doing this; and yes, that includes players from our own team, no matter the advantage. Thankfully it was not a more controversial outcome - in a harmless position and match was well under control, and hopefully the lad'll be told to cut this out (before the refs start treating him like a pariah!). He's good enough to do without this, and all we need is for them all to start on about our diving midfield all over again... Especially as teams are sure to start kicking lumps outta them when they're on top of play in tight games...

  15. Getting laid.

  16. Your opinion is your opinion and you are welcome to it, but you are wrong. Once you watch the video again , minus the green tinted specs you will see that sadly there was zero contact

  17. Just because there was no contact doesn't mean he isn't allowed to jump out of the way. It's the same as McGeady's situation last year. If the Killie player got the ball I wouldn't say it was a foul, but if he didn't it was definitely a foul, contact or no contact.
Personally I would rather Juarez dived out of the way of any potential injury-causing tackles. If the ref gives a free kick then that's up to him.
btw.All fast players do this, especially on the continent. Only the Scottish mentality says that unless your leg is broken you can't claim for a foul!
Juarez's action cannot be compared with Lafferty or McGregor's claims of being headbutted, which were truly pathetic, dirty and low.

  18. fair enough, now explain why he went town holding his leg like he'd been caught?
    why is that less pathetic?

    - Colin McRae
Are you saying what he did is on the same level as pretending to be head butted (!), and in turn getting a player sent off???!!!!

    Can't believe this non-story generates a ten-page thread.

Lot of work-avoidance going on I think...
