Aye he distributes the ball into the Midfield very well, best thing about him.

I thought he looked a bit dodgy tbh, poor in the air, got caught with people running in behind or off him a few times, didnt look too quick. Technically quite good on the ball with good confidence in his passing, used to blooter it at players about 90mph which was a good sign that he knew he could pass a ball although I mind it catching out quite a few of our players like Commons who couldnt control passing at that speed. He controlled the ball on the chest too out of the air a few times in his limited appearances which is good to see too as a lot of defenders just aimlessly head it into midfield.

Was early days though, he'd just moved abroad the first time and we dont have anyone from his type of area to help him settle.

As was the problem with the majority of our defenders last season, none of them were willing to go through the attacker to win the ball, continually trying to run with the man............I accept now that was down to Deila and his instructions.

Hopefully guys like Boyata and Simunovic will start blootering it to * when needs be *see Tierney for examples of how a defender should defend!*

I don't think he'll get a sniff unless Erik or Kolo are injured personally.

If we go for 3 at the back in some games then it could be those 2 plus Jozo.

Rodgers was talking up Simunovic recently. I'd be hoping that Toure will help him develop and eventually we will see Jozo and Erik as the centre backs.

I'd have no issues with going 3-5-2 other than where does that leave your full backs?

Under O'Neill, Agathe and Thompson played those positions. If you play 3 at the back with Lustig and KT as wing backs then there is no width in the final third other than from deep.

Over and above that, Roberts will be our best weapon from middle to front this season. His best position, undoubtedly, is an out and out right winger.

That last bit is on point. Tierney's decision making of going through the man, passing or clearing is great, especially for someone so young.

If the rest of the defence had the same decision making attributes as Tierney, we'd have a great back line. Unfortunately, we don't.

    Agreed.

I'd rather we went with a 433, provided we sign a proper left winger. In saying that, I think Rodgers will mix it up. I'm sure we'll see 433, 352, 451, 442 etc at some point.

Another thing that needs to be taken into account when judging his form last season is pretty obvious..

He was injured and playing through it. If he looked slow or off the pace then it is perhaps no surprise.

    Jozo a target for Torino.

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...ic-defender-targets-comeback-knee-injury.html

Celtic defender Jozo Simunovic has emerged as a shock target for Italian club Torino.
The Serie A club are bracing themselves for a £20m offer from league rivals Napoli for Serbian central defender Nikola Maksimovic if Kalidou Koulibaly's protracted move to Chelsea finally goes through.
And despite undergoing knee surgery after falling injured in January target long-term target Simunovic is the man the Italians want as a replacement.

Signed from Dinamo Zagreb for £3million last summer the 22-year-old has played just 17 first team games for the Scottish champions and returned to training last week, but has yet to play for Brendan Rodgers.
While his maiden campaign in the SPL was blighted by injury, Simunovic impressed at the heart of defence and revealed he plans to be back at some point in August, having played for a month-and-half with a bone fracture in his leg.

Something makes me think we'll never see much of him. Hopefully he can kick his injury problems and prove me wrong though.

What's his injury anyway? Can't even remember seeing him play now.
