Jozo Simunovic

I can understand why he would want to go and can also understand why the club feel the time is right, but it means we will now need two centre-halves and a right-back, especially if three at the back is going to be an option.

Jozo is as prone to a howler as much as he is to injury, but he can be a decent defender and looked ok in a three. Replacing him with McKenna would be very disappointing. I don’t think McKenna is good enough for Aberdeen and would rather Jack Hendry stayed than sign McKenna.

 

Happy for him to stay or go.

But if he goes, then I'm sure we will get a fair price for him, I just don't have faith we would replace properly.

£5mill or so, go sign a young talent (porteous at Hibs or the Serbian lad?) And another that can certainly walk in to the team.

I would be very happy with Porteous from Hibs. He looks a genuine prospect.

 

I think he would be a good signing but not ready now. Just off the back of a lengthy injury and the first real season where he has become a regular in Hibs first team.
To go from Jozo to throwing Porteous into european football wouldnt be a wise move. Porteous should be bought and loaned back to hibs for a season.

I agree about Jozo, wouldn't be huge loss if replaced. But that's the bit that worries me

 

McKenna is a * donkey. Everytime he plays against decent opposition with the scottish national team he is exposed so much it makes you feel sorry. He is a * thug whose only quality is being big. The only thing i remember he doing against us was flying scissoring edouard and injuring him in the process. The thing is while he is a * diva now fighting against his own club to play in the glorious championship, Jack Hendry with all his limitations is a humble kid with a decent disciplinary record. Would rather play with 10 men and use the 7 million to buy Lawwell a customized limo than signing this *

Maybe that would be best for him alright. Hard to tell. I would love him on board though.

 

I dont think that a player can speak to a club without the permission of the club. Its effectively tapping up if the club have not accepted an offer.

The biggest reason i would sell Jozo would be because he cant play on plastic pitches.
In fairness to him he has overcome injury and a bad spell of form and enjoyed a good spell of form after coming out of the cold last season. Many had written him off and he is now of value to us again.

 

Why would they give him permission before a fee would be agreed tho? celtic would stand nothing to gain, it would only further unsettle a player who thinks he is moving to a new team if a fee cannot be agreed with the buying club. Its totally counter productive. The fee is the most important part of any deal so it would be totally pointless to let matters get as far as negotiating with the player if it hadnt been agreed.

Like McGinn, McKenna and Porteous aren’t good enough if Celtic are serious about competing in Europe.

 

Just entertaining the taught of selling Jozo before or in the middle of this CL qualifying campaign is mental.
