Just as well we are so good at getting top quality replacements in place quickly, or this could have left us in trouble.

 

Not if he has been given permission by Celtic to speak to them. If the clubs aren't far away from agreeing a fee they may have allowed it. They might just be haggling over sell on clauses and the like, rather than the actual fee.

I don't have an issue with us selling him, but the timing is awful if it goes through now. A couple of days before what could be the second most important games of our season (financially speaking) and we go into them with only a midfielder as a back up CB. If there is an injury or red card we could be in real trouble.

I'm not even convinced we would have a replacement in place before the playoffs (assuming we get past Cluj), which gives me the fear.

I’d happily sell him and bring in McKenna..

McKenna will run through walls for you and sometimes you need that in our league. A a partnership of Jullien and Ajer for the most part, McKenna and one other, maybe a younger project to play in other domestic matches. The problem is Aberdeen have an unrealistic valuation of him. Their will be better value out there but I’m not sure we are capable of scouting that and bringing it in..

Jozo Simunovic is believed to have agreed personal terms with Lille.

While a fee has not yet been agreed between Celtic and the Ligue 1 side, Football Insider are reporting that the Croatian defender has agreed a deal that will double his current £10,000-a-week salary.


The French transfer window remains open until August 31, and Lille have money to spend after selling Nicolas Pepe to Arsenal for £72m.

Simunovic has made 114 apearances since being signed by Ronny Deila from Dinamo Zagreb in 2015.

The 24-year-old sat out his side's 7-0 win over St Johnstone on Saturday due to suspension.

 

McKenna is a big dumpling in my opinion. I wouldn't be wasting any money on him.
