    Willing him to do well but every time you think he's about to kick on he has a stinker. Still believe there's a cracking CB there, has so many good attributes. He needs a terrific defensive coach to mentor him and/or a sports psychologist or something to make him believe in himself.

    So better than a new signing still finding his feet defensively (although he hasn't half hit the ground running going forward), a converted midfielder and a CB being forced to cover at RB? You're damning him with faint praise there. :56:

    However, I think he was excellent tonight: both individually and in terms of talking Bitton through.

    JOZO SIMUNOVIC has been hit with a two-match ban for his VAR red card in Celtic’s friendly against St Gallen.

    The Hoops defender was sent off for an X-rated challenge on Boris Babic.

    Referee Fedayi San reported the dismissal to the Swiss FA who have since informed the SFA that Simunovic was given his marching orders for serious foul play.

    He is now suspended for Celtic’s opener at home to St Johnstone and the Scottish champions’ second league outing of the season away at Motherwell.



    Speaking after the game, Bhoys gaffer Neil Lennon said: “Certainly, since I’ve come back to the club, Jozo has been very, very good. He’s been great.

    “I’m not sure how much contact there really was, so it seemed a bit harsh in a pre-season friendly.

    What did I think of VAR? Some go for you – we got the penalty from it, and I thought it was a penalty.

    “But it is in the laws of the game, it is the referee’s interpretation, so you have to accept it and get on with it.”

    I think it is fair. It was a horrible challenge that could have caused serious damage! Friendly or not, players need punishing.
