I thought he was starting to come on to his game when we got rid of him.

 

Aye I thought it was a mistake at the time, he had a very good start to the 2007/2008 season. Left us very short up front as well, with only JVOH and McDonald.

It's a while now, but I think Miller claimed Lawwell basically told him that he was going to Derby County because "that was his level".

It's hard to measure how his progress went as he seems the best of a bad lot over there. Perhaps it's a true measure of how bad they've been for years as like McCulloch before him he's the only one who can dig them out of trouble.

 

He only played 2 games that season, he was far too poor on the ball and brainless to play for Celtic. He's up there with Aliadiere, Craig Beattie and probably only those two as technically the worst strikers i've seen playing for us but at least those other two didn't get many games.

 

Think you're being a bit unfair. Scored some important goals for us in his debut season and was looking sharp at the beginning of 07/08 season just when we sold him.

I thought that too. Tbh I was shocked at his quick exit and remember thinking he could come back to haunt us

 

I've actually never disliked two Celtic players more than Naylor and Miller. Mind being raging on a weekly basis at them playing, two awful players that I just never liked. Miller spent 90% of his Celtic career chasing his own first touch and Naylor punting balls into the stands from the halfway line.

A while ago now, but I remember Lee Naylor being total * after that first season.

 

In the modern format I think it is. The 1-0 Manchester United game and even the 3-2 defeat was one of our better performances away from home.
Our last really dominant win in the tournament against benfica.
Our first last 16 and we pushed the eventual champions all the way over 210 mins. Best player in the world at the time being the difference. Had a clear penalty turned down in normal time aswell over there.

 

Wasn't the worst but definitely not the stereotypical Celtic class striker..

Hopefully Jozo finishes him next season..

He actually gave the ball away as well, hospital pass to Tierney then just came roaring in like a train and made one of the best tackles you will see. When you realise how far back he was when he played the ball you understand how quickly he was first, off his mark and second, how * rapid he is when he needs to be. Covered some amount of ground.
