Sviachenko would certainly add a better bite to the midfield and actually win tackles more so than Bitton does.

Didn't do himself any harm tonight, thought he played quite well. Said it before but it baffles me how people think his distribution is poor.

Made a few really good passes tonight, with both feet.

Still getting there with fitness but a good 70 mins, albeit rarely tested. Comfy on the ball and made a few timely interceptions.

You can see he does want to be here which is very important, was giving Christie a pep talk when coming off and jeering him on. His attitude is spot on.

Back 3 of Erik, Kolo and Jozo will no doubt get a run out at some point. Might be good at home.

Or away... could be good that 3 with Eric on the right and Simu on the left. Not sure Eric likes left side that much.

    Quotes via the Celtic website

The Celtic boss also highlighted the return of Jozo Simunovic, who started his first match for the club since January this year after making his comeback against Inverness Caley Thistle at the weekend.
“He looks a top player,” he said. “I’m talking more in training than games because he only came into the game in Inverness and obviously we planned to try to get him game time tonight.
“If you look at his profile, he’s 6' 3'', very dominant, strong, quick, can serve the ball and for a young player he shows wonderful mentality. He’s really aggressive and defends forward so he’s a player I really like and if you see him in training he’s very impressive.
“Hopefully he can stay fit and keep looking to make his way into the team."

We do have a player on our books who looked like the new Yaya Toure against Inter. :fear:

He was even looking to go forward a couple of times and made some nice passes in and around Alloa's box.

Starts before Erik for me give him a good long run in the team he is a really talented CB baffling to think we were considering selling him it's not like we needed the money

Did look good, and I'm curious as to how he'll perform against better opposition. Deserves a shot.

Just listened to the post match interview with the rags. Gave Simunovic a very positive report.

I liked what I briefly saw of him. Was disappointed that we were potentially looking to offload him. Pleased he's back in the frame for the starting line-up.

I like the look of the big guy. Seems very comfortable on the ball.

The coaching staff, Rodgers included seem massively high on him.

I'm maybe being a bit harsh on him considering his age - you forget when someone is 6 foot 4 and looks like a Russian hitman he has literally just turned 22. A kid of a centre half.

Definitely does need to improve his passing though, still some hospital balls again last night. He's always trying to hit it into feet in a forward direction which is a good thing but he needs to learn when to do it.

Without a doubt. He is very composed on the ball which fits into the Rodgers mold nicely I would think. If he can stay injury free I can easily see Simunovic developing into a really quality center back for us and going a fair way to solving the current problems at the center back positions we have.

Reminds me a lot of Daniel Agger tbh (injury prone like him too :fear:)

Kolo's experience will be invaluable for Jozo and even Erik. I'm sure he'll be giving them tips and advice regularly.

Simunovic and Sviatchenko has the potential to be a good partnership when Kolo is offski.

I think jozo and Erik will be our main cb partnership and Toure will be in to give one a rest.

Kolo is our best CB but
