So why the * would he (like you said) never want to leave if he felt unwanted and wanted to leave to go to Torino :97:

As long as he's here Boyata and Ambrose are kept out of the team, so even if he contributes nothing at all in a Celtic shirt he'll have done a decent job.

This could be fate as Brendan has suggested for we have a full Champions League campaign coming up and a full SPL fixture list. I think we all know by now that we can't rely on Boyata and Ambrose, so having Simunovic still here is great cover at CB.

Most of us were surprised at hearing Jozo might be leaving in the first place, and are relieved that he is still here.

    Jesus christ:smiley-laughing002:

I'm saying that he wasn't pushing for a move away, he was happy to stay and fight for his place...as he has been saying for the best part of a month. However, the club then accepted a bid for him which told him that he wasn't wanted all that much by Celtic. So if he feels unwanted why would he not accept the offer?

It doesn't mean he WANTS to leave, but that he felt he HAD to leave because the club didn't want him.

    It's no that difficult.

    Right, ok then.

He didn't want to leave because he wanted to fight for his place, but Celtic accepted an offer and he felt like he had to leave because he wasn't wanted, but now that fell through and he wants to be here.

    Got it

It's not hard at all, for me.

It's quite simple - you say he felt he HAD to leave, but wanted to stay and fight for his place, yet went as far as to agree a transfer to sign for Torino. I'd say that means he WANTED to leave.

Efe had two transfers accepted for him, yet knocked back both point blank to stay.

Think we're getting our wires crossed.

Up until Celtic accepted the offer, it looks to me like Jozo didn't want to leave. However, when the club did accept the offer he thought "well the club don't really want me here, why should I stay?"

Thought Efe only knocked back one move, to Belgium? In any case, he's obviously content just to sit and pick up a wage. He knows he has no chance of playing unless we get about 4 defenders injured. He's just being a *.

The club decided that they would prefer the money over both Ambrose and Simunovic at the club when they accepted the bids. Simunovic decided that he will comply with the clubs wishes and go ahead with the deal, Ambrose decided he would prefer to pick up the easy wage at Celtic.

At the end of the day we have a long history of punting players against their will, Hay, Macari, McClair, Nicholas all come to mind they wanted better money at the time and club refused and sold them.

Kenny Miller was forced out and actually said so saying Lawwell said if he didnt go he would rot in the stand, then when we went Lawwell came out and said Derby was his level, the only 1 in recent memory who told Lawwell to * off was Bobo the way he was treated was shameful

I don't think you're quite grasping what I'm getting at.

No one forced Simunovic to get on a plane to discuss personal details with Torino. He was obviously told that an offer had been accepted for him. He would have known beforehand if he were in with a shout when he recovered from injury, yet decided to accept the invitation from Torino to be their guest for a couple of days, then discuss personal terms (which he accepted), then underwent TWO medicals and was all set to finalise a move away from Celtic - all of which no one forced him to do.

He, like Ambrose, is still under contract at Celtic, and had no obligations to move from the club - especially if (like he claims) he had only intentions of staying here and commanding a first team place.

I don't see the issue here. We were willing to sell him, he was happy to go for talks. The price became an issue and the deal broke down. Now he's happy to fight for his place.

    What's the problem?

    Absolutely no problem chief :50:

I'll support him if/when he's in the team.

I doubt we will see those two in a first team jersey again, despite the alleged management pep talk about Boyata.
