    Whilst it would seem daft to think, I don't see this signing (if it happens) as a sign Virgil will be off.

    Fits the profile of the club's current strategy in the transfer market so fingers crossed he does the business if it does go ahead.

    That is something to go on. Would give us the Big Croat, Blackett, Mulgrew, Boyata and Ambrose to rotate at centre back, surely we could get some good combos from that, and Blackett can play left back, I can see where this is going now.

    He's also captain of the Croatia U21's who finished top of their EURO qualifying Group above Ukraine and Switzerland but they lost the play-off to England so didnt qualify for the tournament this summer, he was injured and missed the play-off games.

    Probably a Lawwell masterplan, im sure that Mamic guy from Dinamo is hated by Dinamo fans who have boycotted games etc cause of him for years.

    Lawwell probably told him to leak to the Croatian press that its a big transfer fee, so that our press will copy it and fool fans into believing we are paying £6million for a player in return for a wee bung. :smiley-laughing002:

    If Ronny and the scouting team think he's worth it and Pete's ok with it there should be no hesitation on spending that sort of money on this guy.

    Mandzukic to Wolfsburg
    Halilovic to Barcelona
    Brozovic to Inter
    Jedvaj to Roma
    Vida to Dynamo Kiev
    Badelj to Hamburg
    Vrsaljko to Genoa
    Lovren to Lyon

    So you'd wonder how we are paying that much for him when similar players have all went to better teams for cheaper. If he's costing £5.5million then the boy Barca signed you'd imagine they'd have got £10million or so if he's possibly good enough for them.

    Only player they've sold for over £5.5million in recent years is Kovacic to Inter who was £7million who has just joined Real Madrid for £25million.

    Sell Virgil for £12M. Buy this guy for £5M. Get a good run in the Europa ( after Christmas) and we get £5M back. That's a £12M profit.

    Wouldn't be selling vvd for him. We ideally want to keep him and bring this boy in. Wouldn't be keen on Jozo and boyata as our two centre backs.

    6 goals conceded in the EL, and that was with Denayer and VVD as well... Maybe it's full backs that are the problem.

    Or maybe we need some extra protection in front of the defence.
