They were wildly wrong with Schmeichel, said it could be September before he's back but by all accounts he'll be back before the end of the season.

They were miles out with Forrest too, originally reported it as 4-6 weeks but he was out a lot longer, no reports of further setbacks either.

I doubt he's back this season but as long as he's fit for the start of next season.

Speaking from experience, if it was an ACL type injury then there would have been no way he would have been back out on the pitch. Hopefully we see him back before the end of the season

Couldn't care about getting him back for this season we should have enough to cover and get the job finished off. Would love him to get back for preseason tho.

Best one was Maeda when he was ruled out for the season and came back 2 weeks later.

In an "old firm week" I take any rumours of our players being injured/leaving with a shovel of salt, but I do think there's something to this one... I'd guess at his season being over and looking at maybe getting him back for the preseason... Based on absolutely nothing but my gut, but that's what I think will transpire.

Yeah, but Maeda's a Terminator... You can't kill him with our current capabilities... :56:

In honesty, I think the club deliberately pushes the worst case to the media, to get rid of them... Happens a lot with us that players come back before the dates suggested

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers confirmed on Friday that winger Jota will be out of action for a significant period of time.

Jota was injured in last weekend's title-clinching match away to Dundee United at Tannadice, appearing to twist his knee before hobbling off the pitch.

After the full-time whistle, the Portuguese star participated in celebrations wearing a supportive bandage and knee brace while walking on crutches.

Reports and rumours about the severity of the injury have circulated all week. Now, after treatment and scans, Rodgers has provided a firmer update.

He said in a press conference on Friday that the winger will be missing for a period of six to nine months.

Jota's absence is less about this season and more of a blow when considering his second-year prospects, following his £6m return in January.

Having not played regularly in his time away from Celtic, after a big-money move to Saudi Arabia and subsequently to Rennes, Jota spent the early part of 2025 building up to full match fitness. He said last month this had left him feeling stronger and more capable for the challenges ahead, with an eye on next season

This injury is a significant blow to re-establishing himself as a superstar again at Celtic, having proven to be so popular during his first spell at the club.

Many fans and observers had considered the summer pre-season period, working under Rodgers in that environment for the first time, to be a prime time for Jota to kick on and get back to the heights that so many had enjoyed before his exit.

The winger now faces a lengthy rehabilitation period just to get himself back on the training pitch before even considering what he can produce in high-stakes matches for the Bhoys.

Given the length of his absence, Celtic could also have some extra work to do in the summer transfer window. Rodgers and his recruitment staff were already looking for more striking and wing options, and now that search is even more important.

In the short term, as the Bhoys prepare to face Rangers and build up to a Scottish Cup final against Aberdeen, Daizen Maeda is likely to play on the left flank, with Adam Idah given more opportunities and responsibility as the team's central striker
