Was never given a chance with us so I don't see why anyone could be upset by his decision.

At least he get's to kick a ball down there.

    All the best Jos.

I'm slowly coming to the conclusion that it is US that is the problem. Not our centre-backs.

Glenn Loovens - Did fine in the Championship. Even played in a team that reached the FA Cup Final. Looks dreadful playing for us.

Daniel Majstorovic - Looks reliable enough for Sweden. Looks shaky for us.

Jos Hooiveld - Dismissed as a dud here. Now a regular in the team sitting 2nd in the Championship.

Then look at Rangers. They managed to extend David Weir's career until he was 40 years old! If Weir had signed for Celtic he'd never have survived that long.

What is it with us? Does the way we play leave our centre-backs too exposed and make them look worse than they are?

It's just strange how these players had decent careers till they arrived at Celtic Park. Then they all looked dodgy as anything. :97:

We play a high d line which put more pressure on the opposition. But the best defenders should be able to handle it.

That could be part of the problem mate. There must be more to it than that though surely?

why he never had a chance here and always gave 100% and backed the team while we the fans kept saying he was crap without actually seeing him play for more than 2 games in a row, we should bring him back in january and give him a good run of games up here, if they league is over as some on here say then whats the harm

we play our line too high up and our Right and Left mids dont cover for our full backs when they push up, also gary parker has us playing a part zone part man defense which is horrible

Maybe looking into it too much, but I find this comment interesting:

"The manager chose his own squad and his own players at Celtic for this year and I'm doing really well down here.

"If Johan (Mjallby, assistant manager) says to me in January that Celtic want me back to help them out, of course I'll be happy to do that. I'm still Celtic's player and as long as that's the case, and they want me there, I would go back."

I feel that insinuates that he'd go back for Mjallby and not Lennon?

Says far more about the quality of the Championship than it does about Hooiveld's ability. Not the answer, and I will be disappointed if he is put back in the starting 11 at the expense of signing a centre back of proven ability.

Although the defenders mentioned above ain't any good imo, I think you have a point here. If we played the 4-5-1 formation like most teams do these days, we'd concede far less goals. It's not the Celtic way though:rolleyes:

you may have a point,i watched the huns on sat.against aberdeen and they
seemed to defend as a unit comfortably.
it could be our style of play that leaves our defence exposed.

The way is going with Southampton this season looks like they could be league winners if they keep it up.

So, lets say that happens. If we take away Celtic (where I've always said he's never been given a chance) hes been with Copenhagen, Southampton, AIK & Inter Turku.

All of those clubs have won the league with him in the team. AIK & Inter Turku won the double and Copenhagen were in the last 16 of the Champions League.

So if Southampton win the leauge, thats Hooiveld won 6 trophies since 2008. Add that to 2 defender of the year awards, 1 player of the year and 1 MVP in a cup and I get the impression that hes not anywhere near as bad as people like to make out.

Also love the quote from the AIK manager "Jos has, during this year, helped and contributed to the winning mentality that characterizes AIK. Idols come and go, AIK remains"

Then again, he is a Mowbray signing, so none of that really matter

I Think he's a half decent player and he is getting a regular game at Southampton, If he wants to leave Celtic fair play to the guy, But Southampton should hand over the money for him.

Jos was fantastic for us, he´s a real character with a great sense of humor. What is this talk about him disrespecting Celtic, doesnt sound like anything Jos would do, perhaps he talks first and think after sometimes but he is a top boy.

Good luck to Jos if he ends up in Southhampton...

He only ever played like two or games on the bounce then kept getting injued.Dont think lennon wanted him along with rasmussen(mowbray signings).Dont think he would want to come back now with soton doing so well, same as juarez who wanted a move to la liga.Cant see either returning.Think joos deserved another chance thought

Fine. As long as we get a decent price for him.
Can only go by what HE says how good he is. Never shown me much apart from getting the * taken out of him. I would much rather him as back-up rather than Maj though.
