I would like a big target man, but couldnt agree more with this, watt must be 4th choice ahead of murphy and bangura this season, if we cant get rid of the latter two.

 

He deserves better than Blackburn. I don't even see them getting promoted back to the Prem this season. Kean will be out on his * the next time they lose two games in a row, as he's already walking the tightrope.

Rhodes is still young, is now a full Scotland cap, supports Celtic as he's said before, is tall, can finish well with both his head and feet, and we could probably get him for about £4m + Murphy. I would be in dreamland if this were to happen.

 

As noted in the Ki thread, if the figures being banded about just now are accurate;

Ki - £6.3m
Real friendly - £1m
4x CL qualifiers - £5m
Europa league - £7m

Then by the time we repay the debt, we have more than enough to go & get Rhodes - a player who fits perfectly - young, with enormous potential and huge resale value!

So let's offer £3m to start with and see how we get on.

Personally I think £4m might get him - if not, then hopefully £4m plus Murphy - but we'd better move quickly, as I can see the window starting to hot up in the coming days!!!

 

I Cant see huddersfield accepting anything less than 7-8 Million if im honest. The guy is Premiership Class imo.

I heard a rumour that a deal is in place subject to us qualifying for the CL. whither that's true or not I don't know.

3 wrongs don't make a right.

 

I doubt there is much chance Celtic would pay £5-6m for Rhodes but for me it's really not that much of a risk, I think he'd score 30 goals a season up hear and would be pretty much exactly what Celtic are missing a Penalty box striker who can score with his head.

The way I see it is we could spend big on him and get him on a 5 year Contract, sell him after 3 years hopefully for £10-12m if everything goes to plan.

I dont see celtic using all the budget on one player when we need a few and this deal would more than likely take nearly all of our wonga.

 

Im hoping that we get to use the money we get from Ki's sale, plus some that we make if we get from the group stages. We don't need many players so could spend a decent amount on 2/3 players. We could afford 5/6mil for Rhodes. But its unlikely.

 

I hope by the time the next leg in Europe comes we have Rhodes & hooper upfront and Johnny russell on the bench for when commens gets foooked

 

doesn't matter who or when we sign players, they'll still be unavailable for the return leg. squads must be submitted to UEFA before the first leg.

 

Hope there's a couple of signings signed,so the players know they have to keep there standards up I.e competition for places.

Rhodes, Hooper, Stokes, Russell and Watt is precisely the strike-force I've been gagging for all summer. Punt Murphy and 'the wrong Bangura', and use Samaras as a wide mid/supporting forward.
