Nothing against Hayes himself, decent player, but i couldn't quite understand the logic of the signing tbh.

I thought the onus was on quality rather than quantity and we would be signing players who could make a real difference, not squad fillers.

Rodgers system at celtic has been to play two wingers.

Sinclair on the left, who cuts in on his right - because he has tierney on the overlap.

On the other side he plays Forrest and Roberts - two players who can take on the full back - because Lustig never does. Lustig doesnt have the legs for it.

And as the Liverpool mantra under rodgers went "if you cant get back, dont go forward"

I really dont think he'd have Christie on the right and sinclair on the left both cutting in.

But at the same time I agree that Christie looks a much better prospect than Hayes and I'd prefer to have given game time to Christie, I just dont think they would be have been fighting for the same game time.

Don't get me wrong i like him as a player and of course i hope he does well for us, it's just in the context of where we are right now i thought his signing was a bit underwhelming.

To be fair we did need a back up winger to give us some squad depth. Just think the money spent on him was a bit much to fill the squad out.

If Paddy signs everyone will realise why Hayes has been signed. He's supposed to be the wide version of Callum McGregor for me. A hardworking peat who can do some damage and can back up a range of positions.

Whilst we are STILL actively trying to sign quality, we still do require to have a strong SQUAD, not just first 11.

No one who has been signed under Rodgers has been with the idea of being "squad fillers" - every one has had their role to fulfill - Hayes is no different.

Hence why Rodgers got rid of the likes of Scott Allan, Shifty (albeit these two on loan), Mackay-Steven, Janko, Bailly, Fasan etc, ones who have no place in Brendan's squad.

Well obviously somebody who's played 50 odd games for us while have better performances to pick than somebody who's had like 5 odds

Not necessarily I can already confidently judge that ntcham is going to be a much better player than Willio flood

I wouldn't be surprised if Ntcham has played more for us than Flood did already tbh

OK so flood only played 9 games for us ,it was a flippant comparison sub another bang average midfielder in.
Hayes has been largely anonymous in his first few games and glaringly obvious he hasn't got a right foot and I have seen nothing to suggest he's any better than GMs.

I accept not everyone BR signs will be a superstar, it's the nature of football transfers. See De Vries or Gamboa on that one.

Personally I don't rate Hayes good enough but will be more than happy for him to prove me wrong and will await that moment but I have a feeling I'll be waiting a while unfortunately.

De Vries was signed to give competition to Gordon, it worked.

Gamboa was signed as back up to Lustig, he's proven capable so far.

Not all signings made by managers are automatic first team pics.

You do know that, don't you?

    No *. I wasn't no.

Johnny Hayes, even as back up or an impact sub for domestic purposes only as he has been hailed as has yet to impress. I'll concede it's far too early to call judgement on that so early, fair enough. But from what I've seen I don't think he has it to be a success here. We've swapped GMS for someone of similar ability in my opinion.

Sinclair doesn't cut in because Tierney overlaps he cuts in because he's more comfortable on his right same reason paddy cuts in on his left and by all accounts Rodgers would prefer a Paddy type (lefty on the right) than a winger like Forrest out there. If you look at his time at Liverpool it was the same (Sterling, Coutinho etc.). I'd say he would def have two players on each side cutting in. Christie is more suited to that than Hayes.
