Agree and most of the time he’s called on he is solid and dependable. Gives his all and while he isn’t the most skilled or a flare player he gives us that nastiness needed and a dirty work player. Every successful team has one. As @JC Anton I think said, a utility player. That run he done and rockets it to row z. If that had of went in then he would be getting praise. I like him as he’s an honest worker and doesn’t hide.

Sorry Johnny bhoy take that not a flare player comment back. He is from the school of Ronaldinho tricks. Also that tackle, I think Rennes. Actually felt sorry for the guy that he hit like a train. Right up there with the Jozo “if he lives” tackle.

He was great tonight. As much as I like bolingoli, he would not have got a result with bolingoli playing...he gives the ball away too much and is prone to a defensive boo-boo....Hayes is much more dependable and solid. He showed great energy up and down the flank giving options all night.

He impressed me again tonight. Hardly put a foot wrong and kept up some real defensive harrying.

You can take a pop at plenty of things he lacks but above everything else he’ll run through brick walls for Celtic and sometimes that’s all you really need.

When I realized he was going to be playing, I became quite confident. Hayes simply defends better than Bolingoli.

See him running 70 odd yards to overlap Eddy late on, * love the guy. You need guys like him in the squad I think, pure determination.

To many of us, myself included, are too quick to be selling or writing off our own.
I've done it in a thread or two.
I really like Johnny, maybe cause he's Irish, and a fellow Dub, but this man is the epitome of the reliable squad player. A managers dream.
If you could coach attitudes into players, his is the model I'd use.

Love the wee *. If every player had the heart and commitment he had, we'd never lose a game of football again.

    LWB tonight.

Not bad wee European record growing from that, MotM against Valencia and an away win in Italy against Lazio. First ever win on Italian soil in 30 attempts.
