    ok, insulting my intelligence and calling me gullible is in no way helping you make your point valid, i dont think he is a hero, and i buy into no media circus, i think the guy gets too much of a hard time from people because of what the media have portrayed, if you dont agree with me fine, but lets not get personal eh?

    Angie ,i aint got a problem with him supporting rangers ,but when this happened he appeared on tv ,giving it ,dont mess with us scots etc ,fair enough ,camera and etc on him a bit excited ,but other people dont recall this guy doing anything but having a * .

    The documentry the other night on the bbc ,showed 2 other guys take on it and not once did smeato get a mention ,they 2 guys looked like they hadnt slept since it happened and were dignified in the why they spoke ,the camera then switched to smeato and he is swinging punches etc ,and looked like he was enjoying the camera to much ,but people say his story doesnt add up ,and thats the doubt that i dont get with this guy .

    thats all im looking for, a valid point, instead of hes a *, or im apparently gullible, i havent watched any of those documentaries, and havent read too much into any of the media stuff either, i was genuinely confused why people hated him so much, and now i know :icon_mrgreen:

    Did he lie about his role in everything? If you listen to another of the guys that were there then yes he did.

    Taxi Driver Alex McIlveen, Stephen Clarkson and Michael Kerr all waded in to the terrorists yet I bet not one of those names rings a bell. Instead Smeaton has a medal of gallantry received from the Queen and an outstanding bravery award from the Pride of Britain awards, writes a regular column in a national newspaper and is lauded as a hero.

    McIlveen is the guy that booted the burning terrorist so hard in the baws he ruptured tendons in his ankle, why is he still a taxi driver whilst Smeaton lords it up at Downing Street?

    Conclusion: Smeaton is a Walter Mitty and The Sun has once again pulled the wool of everyone's eyes by creating their own wee hero.

    You have had very strong views on this smeaton issue and now you come out and tell us, you don't fully understand the whole situation. You don't have any facts about the whole situation apart from the headlines in the Scottish Sun, yet you are criticising Celtic fans for being disgusted with the guy and assuming it is because he is a rangers fan. There are several threads on this forum I don't fully understand, have an opinion on or I'm not in possession of all the facts. To enter into a debate on any of them would be very, very gullible of me .

    if celtic fans dont like him because he is rangers fan then that i understand, when people said it wasnt because of who he supported but didnt elaborate further, that confused me, i wanted them to elaborate as to what the reasons were, which they have now done, a debate is where people dicuss opposing views in a civil manner, hurling around insults because you disagree with someone is out of order, im fairly intelligent and articulate and i am able to put my point across with slating you, if you could behave in the same manner then it would be appreciated,

    My opinion remains the same. The man is vermin, he's a liar, a cheat and everything he has done from that day untill now has been engineered into maximising the amount of profit he has enjoyed from the fabricated story he created.
