I got handed a long strip of paper at yesterdays game saying how nobody wants John Reid to become chairman and to go onto a certain site and petition against it.

He's a Celtic fan with contacts and influence, all these points deface his character but i'm not seeing anything which would hinder his performance as chairman of the football club?

He is no longer a politician and therefore, I will allow the man some leeway in the hope that Bush or Blair are not shareholders.

Sorry? who said anything even remotely close to that?

I made a simple point, how does any of the points raised hinder his ability to chair a board of directors of Celtic Football Club?

Isn't it ironic that people on here moan about Republican singing etc at football matches, saying sectarianism and politics has no place in football. (A point i agree with), but then turn to the political side of John Reid once he has been named as a member of the Celtic board. Double standards peeps.

    Paul - mate

There's a huge difference in aligning out club to a cause which is unpopular in the country that we live in, compared to a * that stood by while over 100,000 innocents were killed in our name and then, for political expediency, stood 'shoulder to shoulder' with Bush, Blair and Halliburton to keep his job.

The guy is tainted. Not going to bang on about it, as every chairman that every large company has had has been tainted because that's what these arses do, but I'm not happy about this * being at CP

He is no longer a politician, he is chairman of the club I love, I said and will say again, politics have no place at Celtic Park nor do songs with * all to do with Celtic, whether it be War in the Middle East or Political allegiance to a party it's in his past, he is chairman of Celtic now. Give him a break in his retiral and let him pursue the hobby he loves.

He wouldn't be getting the job unless Dermot Desmond thought he was up to it. And the current board have got most decisions regarding running the club off the field 100% right so give them a break ffs.

    And the * with the banner?.........get a * life.

I understand your views on him politically, but political views are being asked to be kept aside from supporting Celtic when it comes to Republicanism, something which I have a strong interest in, so it should be the same across the board. (no pun intended). There may well be a very large section of our support who are happy to see him in place.
