What exactly is the official story with the poppy incident? Were they forced to give up their tickets, etc. ?

Disclaimer: Not looking to start anything, just wondering what the facts turned out to be.

"its time to reclaim our club from those who would prefer to wrap it in the union jack rather than the irish tricolor"......where does the union jack fly a celtic park nowadays?i know it used to fly above the south stand nearest the rangers end, tattered and battered, but it was still there, now im not wanting it back, but do you think with the club in the effective control of an irish billionaire and the irish links being celebrated and promoted constantly,do you really think that our past is being usurped, and where do we play, scotland, part of the uk the last time i looked.its time that people accept these issues as fact.john reid is not trying to do away with our shared irish scottish past, but we are a scottish club, with a mixed scots irish past

To be fair mate, you dont know what i have and have not seen. I dont feel the need to digress it either on this thread.

Anyway to say to people you have'nt lived through this or that means nothing. I didn't live through aparthied in South Africa but I know it was wrong.

To match the IRA campaigns with the illegal decision made by John Reid and his cohorts is again unbalanced. In my view they turned they're whole imperail milatary arsenal on a people for reasons of greed. Not for a justified cause. Thats my veiw.

I dont really need to reason IRA operations to you. I am not a member of the IRA.

This thread is about John Reid. Again the blinkered anti-IRA lobby has hijacked it for their own uneducated agenda.

but he is doing a great job :43:

some people just seem to want to blindly follow anything that comes out of Celtic Park and dont want to question anything. Just because we are in a better position than in the 80's and 90's doesnt mean we have to just sit back and keep quiet about things we dont agree with.

Its not Desmond, Lawell, or Reids's club. . . Its all of ours.

I like Peter Lawell btw. I think he does a good job, but like yourself, I dont trust John Reid. As far as I'm concerned I'm justified in taking that stance.

I didnt say it is more my club. I also wouldnt want to think it all comes down to money.

I really dont have much of a problem with Dermot Desmond anyway. Of course, I would like to see more of his millions come our way, and I'm sure every Celtic fan would. That is Dermot Desmonds call though. I wouldnt tell him how to spend his money.

My problem is with John Reid. As I say, I dont trust the guy.

As I've said over a hundred times on this forum, if he invests anymore in this club, he will trigger an automatic takeover bid whereby he has to buy out all other shareholders and the club is a PLC no more. He has to do that by law. He doesnt want to own Celtic, he doesnt want to do the EPL model. He wants Celtic to run on their own steam.

If other board members and investors matched his commitment in a significant way, he wouldnt be tied like this when it does come to investments. He did say he would cover investments like Lennoxtown which he did all by himself and the stadium expansion would be another key investment, I think, he would love to do when the time is right.

No its not all about money but he is investing for a bright future at Celtic. His money is going a very long way

As I said. . . I have no qualms with Desmond.

He seems genuine enough to me, and I'm glad he has taken the stance not to own Celtic. After all, thats what we fought tooth and nail for when we were getting shot of the Kelly and White dynasties.

I'll admit. I had actually forgotten about the Lennoxtown investment he had made so more power to him.

It doesnt have to be Celtic only. Desmond have many interests and has someone attend board meeting for him alot of the time. Reid does have the best interests for Celtic and there is nothing to suggest otherwise.

Maybe they do, but I dont think this is the place to discuss politics, which is all half the posts are.

Any thread with the words 'John Reid', 'Green Brigade' or 'Poppies' in the title should be instantly * closed

Load of utter tiresome pish :blahblah1

Well mate John Reid is our chaiman. Unfortunately he has political baggage which a lot of fans are uncomfortable with.
