I have expressed my veiws on the poppy debate, and to be honest, I think I was right, as we are still getting greif from some quarters. Which was their agenda all along.

That has nothing to do with my thoughts on John Reid.

Everyone knows there is a deep resentment to british forces among some of the Celtic support. Never before has this happened, that a directive from the football authorities says all teams must wear a poppy.

It was a chance to even up the publicity connecting to the famine song.

Right I get you now. I disagree totally mind you.

I get the feeling that the guys that were dying in the trenches had more important things on their minds that in 90 years time some hun might give you grief in the pub about poppies on Celtic shirts.

The world owes a debt of gratitude to all that died, in both World Wars. The poppy shows respect to those who had they`re lives cut short and I`m glad, and proud that Celtic were part of that show of respect.

I hardly think that a poppy on a shirt makes anyone an Irish hating imperialist.

However, if you or the GB think differently then fair enough. It`s a free country thankfully :50:

I dont think thats entirely true mate. . . It wasnt universal in Enlish football I dont think.

Anyway, maybe I am paranoid and cynical, but thats the way I see it.

Again though I will say I dont blame John Reid for this

Am quite surprised thought it would have been not far off a landslide, most voting yes. Whatever your opinion on the man, he's bringing this club attention it does not need and is putting a massive split right down the middle of the support. That to me is unacceptable, more so than our players being forced to wear a poppy.

The man is a Celtic man first and foremost, a born leader and certainly not afraid to make decisions good or bad, during the current climate there is no better man to lead Celtic, he could easily stayed in politics on a cushy number where he has a fantastic reputation of getting the job done, more power to him I say, for me Celtic right now are a strong team from his position to the guy sweeping the floors and thats the way forward

To me that is just rhetoric, like a number of posts on this thread.

He has sold out his principles and therefor untrustworthy in my eyes.

I mean what is your point about the current climate. Was he not part of the problem that instigated the "current climate"

That's absolute nonsense and you know it.

The people bringing unwanted attention on the club are the GB with their own agenda and attention grabbing wee protest which thankfully turned into the non event it clearly is. During the applause, we can safely say at least 90% of the people inside the stadium joined in and done so with pride.

The only split I can see is the split the GB have made themselves and every day I see it getting wider and wider as their members (on here at least) continually try to justify their actions. The vast majority of Celtic fans have no time for the kinds of nonsensical protests and walk outs witnessed last week and quite rightly so.

The fact they used such an apolitical symbol to twist to suit their own agenda shows both how desperate they are for attention and how out of touch they are with the Celtic support at large!

Glad to see that only a third care about Reids past history. Again TC shows that the noisy political type basacks are a minority even on this issue. Time and again TC polls show the sort of views the GB types spout are well in the minority. These loud attention seekers get us all labelled. They need to hand in their season tickets because football is clearly a distant second to them.

Feedthebear, how can you deny that the fans are split into two on this subject? IMO a walkout protest was a bit over the top, as well as ineffective, but it doesn't change the fact that some people encourage the players being forced to wear poppy's on their shirts, while some fans think it's a * disgrace. What's your point?

Broke in two maybe but not into two halves. More like 90-10 than 50-50. The minority of politically motivated fuckwits shouldnt veto the wishes of the majority.

to be honest mate. . .I dont think you know much about the Celtic support "at large"

The Celtic support "at large" does not come on internet forums or pay much credence to anti celtic media campaigns.

The celtic support "at large" have seen it all before.

And these nonsensical protests you go on about saved our club from extinction.<!-- / message --><!-- sig -->

how do you know it's 90-10 and not 70-30? is any anti-reid human a politically motivated *? if I understand you right, what the majority decides applies for everybody, is that what a democracy is about then?
