Discussion in 'Celtic Chat' started by Johnnybhoy, Nov 13, 2008.

  1. Try to keep the heavy discussisons to a minimum some mods are itching to close this. Just vote and leave it at that please:50:

  2. haha, ssshhh the mods are everywhere, I feel like I'm in the matrix.

I always wonder if he was brought in because he is high profile, because of his political background, or just coz they were all mates.

Celtic fan, respected figure, man of undeniable strength, network of top contacts.

He has top attributes and he's doing a good job, we're lucky to have him.

  4. Dermot Desmond recommended John Reid for Chairman, one of the smartest businessmen in the world, imo, wanted him. Do you think Desmond has finally made a bad business move? I dont think so!

  5. IMHO he seems to be doing a good job.

I hate the questions on this thread of 'tell me what good he's done?' Anyone who answers that will get - 'give me your source' etc etc.

Until the guy does something wrong for Celtic then I'm happy to have him at the helm.

For all you concienciouus people out there - you might want to think about where you fill up with petrol, who you bank with, what trainers and clothes you wear - as a lot of people in Nigeria / China etc are working for pennies to clothe you in the latest gear.

So before laying a guilt trip on the rest of us have a wee look at a famous book that talks about casting the first stone.

    Keep John Reid!

    Good post!

  6. I can't actually think of why he needs to go...?

  7. I think I may be one of the "conciencsious" people you are referring to. Beleive me, I do think about the issues you mentioned, every day. However I dont think that has any relevance to the debate.

The debate is about wether or not you like the Celtic chairman.

  8. i dont even understand why this poll is happening!!!
get jr out why? he is doing a fine job hasnt said things he shouldnt have,
he is helping celtic to become stronger so why would you want the man out?

  9. Yes, John Reid has to go, give him to the huns and let him run that club into the ground he dosn't deserve so much athority in our club. The way he has managed to split the fans into two should be enough for Lawell to pull the plug on this one.

As for the poppy bollox, is this year the first year ever it has been FORCED on the players, or has it been done before by the club? (i can't remember there being a poppy sowed onto the shirt last year.?)

  10. I thought GS split the fans

  11. :icon_mrgreen:
Well he did with a few * signings/bad performances but not to the extent some fans feel the need to protest against some of his decisions, then get removed from the stadium in the next home game for doing so.

  12. Could it be that all the get wgs out are starting to jump on this band wagon, due to the fact wgs is doing a great job and its not going how they like it...:97:
Untill jr does wrong i'm all for keeping powerfull well connected people at this club.

  13. Outside of Maley and Stein, nobody has achieved at Celtic what Strachan has accomplished, nobody. The people that want him out are fools.

Was the poppy thing ever implemented in the league like this before? No, its the 90th year anniversary of the ending of WW1 and it was commemorated heavily by everyone everywhere in Britain.

  14. I support Strachan 100%. . . always have done. I think he's a great wee guy, and honest. I dont think you can say the same for JR.

So no. . . Its nothing to do with any bandwagon.

  15. What about the 80th year, or indeed the 75th year anniversary. No poppy was worn on these occasions. However I dont lay the blame entirely at John Reid for this. It was a ploy to even up the score, as far as I'm concerned.

To me the poppy thing doesnt come into it.

  16. I don't want gs out. He has done a great job heading for 4 in a row and cl knockout stage for the 3rd year running.

Was this the league's decision, and not the club's, for the poppy on the shirt? The minute's silence/applause would have been more than enough to force upon the fans who don't appreciate the british army.

  17. Since he's been Celtic chairman, what has he done wrong ?

He's done nothing wrong, so why change things ?

  18. It wasnt just Celtic wearing the poppy, everyone was asked. And it didnt stop at football.

Wearing the poppy commemorated Irishmen and women that fought and died in the war too.
