i agree, although if we offered 4 million as a starting offer then hibs might demand higher,1.5 million is a decent starting offer means we try meet hibs in the middle,i believe the deal will be concluded at 2.5 million with allan through in.i think thats fair.

If Rodgers is saying he wants to sign players ready to improve the first team then why sign mcginn because he ain't as good as any of midfielders we already have

As said Petrie would rather lose him for * all than be seen to selling him to us.

We hold all the cards , already a bid in and rather than lose him for nothing, i'm sure he's a celt too wich always helps if he wants to improve his career he comes here under Brendan rather than down south.

Aye it's that * Petrie that's holding the deal up.I'd say £2mil and Allan is more than a fair deal considering we could sign him on a free in 6 months and sell Allan too.

seems fair but if english clubs enter the situation we may have to flex and pay a bit more.

Not at all, just like I said, they’ve been a great feeder team for us over the years. I’m not saying give them money for nothing, just a fair deal.

Plus, historically, the Hibees did inspire one Brother Walfrid to start the club we now know and love... But that’s sentiment talking now

If we are looking to McGinn to be a long term replacement to Brown, then surely we can't be also worried his head will be turned by and English club.

He now knows we want him, he wants to come here. The notion of replacing Brown long term must be on both sides surely. So if we have a fear he is going to be turned by an English club within 6 months, then that fear should equally be there if we sign him now. Be it in 2 or 3 years time. Which thus surely in a way means we and McGinn don't view it as a long term replacement to Brown.

In short, if he wants to come here for the long term, he will wait the season out.

I would hold off and get him for nothing. Can't see anybody matching the asking price if it's as high as being speculated.

At this point, I’m quite sure McGinn would rather hold out and sign for us for free next summer (and take a decent signing on fee) than move elsewhere just now. The ball is firmly in our court. We know, Lawell knows it, Petrie knows it.

Aye going by Rodger's comments today I'd be surprised if he isn't here during the week.

There seems to be a notion that we are the only team interested in him. He has other suitors and other teams that will pay what we are willing to pay.

In any case, the price wont be more that £3m. We also have Allan, a player who has stated he wants to return to Hibs, and who Hibs want.
These factors will see that the deal goes through this summer.

Its absolute nonsense. At the end of the day these are business people with a club to run. They just lost Mcgeouch for nothing and your suggesting they would see the same happen with Mcginn? Naive.
