He's already proved himself domestically at hibs and a main player in the Scotland team it's whether he can step into our team and do it confident he can though.

One of the most promising Scottish prospects atm, can’t see why people would be against this move. A direct replacement for Armstrong in midfield although different players I feel he could be the long term replacement for Brown. It’s a win win really. Plus he will know what it means to pull on the jersey.

Brown is not getting any younger and we probably need to rest him some games too, you seen when he was out the team we where lacking drive not the same team and drew some games too.

You’re preaching to the converted, it will take time tho to reach the consistency required at Celtic

Thing is, we need a bit of quality now not more projects. He is currently not any better than what we already have.

More hype around Edouard signing because he's foreign and the price tag he's still got it all to prove too.

Brown, statistically, was the best at keeping possession last season for Celtic in europe.

Mcginn isnt poor on the ball. He has a good range of oassing.

Aye he was. Doesn't mean he still doesn't bring that ability to get aggressive though. Brown brings both, as you would expect from such an experienced player.

I never said Mcginn was poor on the ball either, just that he needs to improve and wouldn't be taking McGregor's place in Europe immediately in a midfield 3.

I agree with this. Edouard needs to do it in the big games and that will be europe.

Who said anything about Edouard? Anyway he is only, 20?, is it and has much more development in him, and at that age likely to be happy featuring as a rotational option while developing his game. Mcginn is 23 and how much more development can he achieve at that age being a bit part player/back up.

Price tag is also looking likely to be pretty hefty too, given all the circumstances. If he comes for about 1m as a squad option then fair enough. Shouldn't be one of our big summer signings though.

Not much good if you draw a soviet states or ex Yugoslavian nations as I think that is illegal in many of them.

I can't understand how anyone can view this in any other way than a really good sigining and addition to the squad.

To come away with stuff like, ''if that's the height of our ambition, blah blah'' is so irrelevant imo it's not even worth debating.

I think many have looked at the Hayes signing and it hasn't really worked out because he is no better than what we already have.

Personally i think McGinn would be a good sigining.

I think with many it is about how much will we pay for a player with 1 year left on his contract. The board will provide x amount each summer and is there better places these funds could go. Most believe the defence is where we are weakest and is somewhere where we need and instance success. Hibs have said £5m, which I am sure they will end up selling for less.

changes nothing imo at the moment. We need a CB, RB cover and a wide player. What we will be doing with this is buying a guy who will get a game when needed, who will improve with better players around and who is in the mould of a Brown who will need a break now and again and will eventually need replaced down the line. I think this would be a great bit of business and in no way changes the obvious priorities you correctly mentioned elsewhere. The CL deadline for players was always gonna be a problem. Every season at this stage we'll be playing brinkmanship to a certain extent. Let's wait and see where we're at nearer the end of the window.

I’m not saying he’s a project, he has qualities too.. he would be a good addition and will start his fair share of games..

23 is nowhere near a player's peak, he could develop greatly over 2-3 years and be at a prime age to move on for a big fee with the best years of his career stillahead of him.

    I'm older than him and I still think I'm a young * :giggle1:
