Every time I have seen him he has impressed me. It amazes me that we always seem to look down our nose at young Scottish talent. We should always check our own back yard before shopping abroad. We know exactly what we are getting. Anyone one us demanding a proven champions league, your cm is dreaming. A young proven CL cm is at least £10M and the rest. We have to find talent before they showcase it on a European stage. So we always face a element of risk when we are signing anyone, as do most clubs operating with the budget/expectations We have.

McGinn will be a brilliant signing. We also need to face facts, I love brown but his age dictates a sharp decline could come this season, next season and I'll be amazed if he keeps this standard up for another three seasons!

The difference for me with Brown when he first came in was that he was a bit of a headless chicken when he first came in, having been more of a "box to box" midfielder at Hibs.

Obviously his early years were understandably a struggle for personal reasons, but his proper developing came under Lenny when he was used in more of a "holding" role, * he was even used asa right sided midfielder to great effect at times.

His role has even been greater developed by Rodgers into what we see today, no explanation required.

As far as I can see, McGinn has been taking a kind of similar path to Brown - energetic young midfielder bursting forward at St. Mirren, then has been "reigned in" a bit by Lenny to a more combatitive central midfielder who offers dig, but can be let loose when the time is right.

If/when he comes to Celtic, Rodgers will absolutely be asking him to model his game on Broony of current - he will learn him tactical awareness, positioning and by Christ he will elevate his passing game beyond doubt.

Broony needs to be rested more domestically, McGinn is the ideal "replacement", especially at the price. Heart, desire and passion is what we'll get from the wee die-hard * *...

Who says he's the "height of our ambition"?

Or is this just another chance for you to moan about something, as per?

Look at the players Brendan has developed at his previous clubs then here ...Armstrong,Mcgregor,Rogic,Brown,Forrest,Griffiths,,Tierney have all became far better players last 2 seasons then signings he has brought like Dembele,Ntcham,Sinclair,Edouard guy knows what he is doing and is why we are the first team to do a double treble.

McGinn is nowhere near the level Brown was at Hibs.

    Absolutely nowhere near him.

I know the comparisons are inevitable, but are unfair considering what Broonie has developed into..

How can you talk about a lack of ambition when you were rambling on about how Everton is a big club and how Tierney would do well to move there yesterday?

Everyone will have an opinion some will say Brown was not the player Lennon or even Petrov was but from different eras so its unfair to compare.

Because Brown when he was at Hibs was on another level than McGinn is just now.

Brown was running riot when the SPL was a much, much better league. McGinn spent 2 seasons in the championship with Hibs and the only season he had in the top league with them McGeouch, who couldn’t make it here, outshone him scooping up every award ahead of him.

Genuinely don’t know if people are at the wind up thinking McGinn just now is close to the player Broony was at Hibs.

Which is why I said at Hibs.

I get people love McGinn and are desperate to sign him but Brown was absolutely phenomenal at Hibs.

The whole Hibs team when Brown was there was on another level - hence why they were regularly described as Hibs' "golden generation".

I remember watching Broon when he was at Hibs, and I personally can see no astronomical difference in both he then and McGinn now - except Broon was a bit more mental and headless i.e. running all over the park.

Broon was 21 when he joined Celtic, if McGinn joins then he'll be 23, not too much of a difference, and still young enough to develop.

But like I posted above, judging both on pre-Celtic careers, McGinn has been FAR more successful than Broony.

And McGinn wouldn’t have got a game during Hibs ‘Golden generation’.

And judging both on pre-Celtic careers, Broony was a FAR better player than McGinn.

Because signing John McGinn would show a lack of ambition in my opinion.
