See so much similarity with us signing brown ten years ago with him. Still splitting opinions but I think he has enough about him that we should sign him and give him the Rodgers treatment.

Who better to learn off than Broony himself too!

If he can be brought in for cut price deal due to the time left on contract then get him in.

Problem is, he's going to have to understand that right now he's not taking the place of ntcham or brown at least for the next 2 years barring huge injuries and such like.

That's where I think we might be a bit of hard sell for him

The only way I can see us signing McGinn is if Armstrong and Kouassi leave, and I am not for loaning Kousassi out to make room for McGinn as I believe over time Kouassi will be the better player!

Tbf we've seen no evidence that Kouassi will make it with us..

I think Brendan’s made it clear he’s good enough for us. It’s just that he plays the Broony role. Whether that’s the truth or not, I don’t know. but I personally think Kouassi is good enough and a better player than McGinn.

Zenit home match? Hearts home match? Kilmarnock home match in LC before he got injured? Any wee cameos he can ping a pass and retains possession well plus is 4 years younger than McGinn

Mcginn is a good player but we won't find out if he is likely to make the step up til he is here. I wouldn't be against buying him as part of the deal we could loan Kouassi to hibs for a season which would help Us, them and him.

I'd rather just give Kouassi a chance.

Not enough evidence, maybe but I can't agree with you on no evidence. On the admittedly fleeting appearances we've seen of him you can tell there's definitely a player in there eg. Zenit home leg.

Whether or not he gets a chance to or can do it regularly enough remains another matter.

Yes we could always do that but I wouldn't want to miss out on Mcginn so loaning Kouassi and buying Mcginn would stop that.

Three or four performances in 18months tells us that he can't be judged as of yet... hopefully he will make it and he has had limited opportunity for whatever reasons..

McGinn has proved himself domestically Kouassi hasn't.

Like I said to Sean three or four performances in 18months is a poor return thus far... would have expected a £2-3m player to have featured more.. for me we are none the wiser around him.

Yeah, I'd say it's too early to judge if he can be a regular consistent first-team player for us given he's not really been given many opportunities. But he was excellent in the home leg against Zenit, against a far higher standard of opposition than McGinn has ever came up against.

Bear in mind that Kouassi is also 3 years younger than McGinn. Who has the greater potential?

McGinn wouldn't oust any of our current midfielders and for that reason I'd give him a miss at some of the eye-watering fees that have been mentioned.

I think the price we paid was based on potential. He's only 20 and we all know the issues he had with Malaria when he first arrived, which prolonged his settling in period, along with the new culture and language he had to adapt to.

Even though he hasn't featured much, his quality is obvious to me.

I'm not against signing McGinn either, as he's a good player, but he's not a priority.

Agree 100% as much as I like mcginn and want him signed I don't exactly know were he would fit in to the team right now, I'd take him and loan him back to hibs then see how we are next season, I do think he could be a natural replacement for brown if he keeps developing the way he is, he has that bite which I personally like in a player

This is it for me. McGinn is a good player but he’s not one we need badly when we already have Kouassi.

I think we’ll see more of him next season to be honest.

Broony, Eboue, Ntcham, Bitton, Armstrong. We've got plenty of depth at CM.

He would be a good swap for bitton who will nodoubt be sold, and with Armstrong not committing to a long term contract I think he could go too, to have a replacement in place that is low risk in fact one of the better players in our league its worth a punt not at the 5m that hibs want but if we get him for half that for me its a wise move

It would depend on how much Hibs want for McGinn and whether BR is even interested, lol..

There's a good chance Armstrong will be moved on and Bitton is seen as CB cover so McGinn would be a good addition to the squad, we could have done with his strength at times this season.
