Come the end of the season Armstrong will have a year left on his deal, again.

I can see us cashing in and signing Johny Bhoy.

Said the same to the old man the other day. He can play any role in midfield, we’d be daft not to buy him.

Yeah, I can see that myself. McGinn would be a great replacement and would probably be a good bit cheaper than what we’d get for Stu.

If Armstrong went for £8m+ and McGinn cost (the rumoured) £3.5-4m, I don't think that would be great value for money, considering what Armstrong done last season.

I'm coming round to signing McGinn, but it's purely based on the hype on here. I don't/haven't seen anywhere near enough of him.

I’d be surprised if Armstrong went for £8million+. He’s only a year left on his contract and hasn’t reached the same heights this season as last season. I think we’d get around £5/£6million at most, and undoubtedly take it.

McGinn is supposedly rated £4mill+ by Hibs, but if push comes to shove, I reckon they’d take £3mill. We’ve just got to hope that no other clubs come in and outbid us.

We paid up to £4.4mill for Brown, who as I recall was rated similar to what McGinn is now. But I’d doubt both clubs would be in the same boat to spend/charge up to that fee.

Are they really asking for 4 million?
Could argue the price of brown ten years ago, inflation in football etc etc.
Could argue what we would expect to get for armstrong and what we expect Mcginn to offer if he came in. But football transfers don't quite work that way, specially in Scotland. Prices have dropped from the heights of Brown at 4.4mill, unfortunately for teams like hibs.

I'd stretch to 2mill and henderson.
    At a stretch.

If we only get that for a mainstay in an invincible side, and have to spend nearly all of it on McGinn, then that doesn't look great value for money.

The point on Brown has other factors that have to be considered. The SPL was just coming out of it's boom period, clubs, outside of us, don't have the same leverage.

Said it before, but James McCarthy is a better comparison (and even then he was/is better than McGinn). McCarthy cost £1.2m, rising to £3m.

This is silly, particularly the bold part. Armstrong was held in a similar regard when we signed him from Utd, maybe not even as highly.

Remember Armstrong was pretty * awful until Rodgers got a hold of him.

Mcginn would have a tough time trying to play on the wing not even left mid when he's a CM like Stu had to under that clown deila.

Plus it's not that version of Stu we would be replacing it's this one. The BR Stu and i don't care how people spin mcginns potential that's a downgrade at a time when we're trying to get to the next level in europe.

He's also younger, you don't think he could develop into an Armstrong quality player by the time he's 25 and had a few years at Celtic under Rodgers?

We generally don't buy 'Next level" players, we buy players with the potential and develop them into that mould. Ntcham/Eboue/Armstrong as examples.

You probably had the same opinion before we signed Armstrong, ignorance that we slate EPL fans for.

He could but we already have 2 promising midfielders in Ntcham and kouassi to develop and McGregor who can still develop further. Browns going nowhere and if it's between renewing stu's contract and paying for this fella it's not even a contest. We've tam aswell. Already 6 players going for whats usually 3 midfield spots.

Was also delighted when we signed Stu as we only had bitton Brown Johansen and a young mcgregor at the time so he was needed. Mcginn isn't needed.

If Armstrong goes, another CM/CDM will be signed. Henderson will be gone, Brown another year older.

Highly doubt Rodgers will not go into next season with Brown, McGregor, Eboue and Ntcham as our CM choices. Someone else will be signed, either a project like McGinn or someone established.

I'd defo be up for buying McGinn either in January or next summer. Got a feeling we'll need to get him early though, Nottingham Forest were sniffing about towards the end of the last transfer window.

If anyone's going to be the next Broony for Celtic and for Scotland it's going to be this guy.

They're quite right to ask for a decent fee. He's worth a lot to them and the other Scottish clubs need to stop getting the * taken out of them for their top talent. Liam Boyce went for around £250,000. If his record was the same in even league 1 he'd likely be going for £5m+. How are the smaller clubs ever going to progress when those kinds of fees are likely invested in the running of the club and they replace their top talent with free transfers.

Yeah no doubt at all Boyce should have went for more. * robbery that was and why they allowed it, * knows.

I just don't see Mcginn being that good yet to command a figure similar to Brown. Certainly worth a few quid, a million wouldnt cut it, but 2million, yeah.

Armstrong will be gone soon, McGinn is the perfect replacement. One I think will step in Europe as well, he looked stronger and faster than Armstrong as well.

He can also play in any of the midfield roles, good left foot on him. Under Rodgers he’ll be class in no time. Don’t * about Celtic, get him in January.

    With
    Brown
    Mcgregor
    Armstrong
    Ntcham
    Eboue
    Rogic
    Biton
    Christie
Henderson and I think benyu plays in the middle where would mcginn fit in ,that's without considering youth players. I don't think he's as good as anybody on that list and can't see why we would spend the foolish money hibs would want on him would much rather get Henderson on the pitch

Anytime I watch him, he reminds me of a mixture of John Collins and Paul McStay.

Wonderful young player who MUST be signed up by us.

He reminds me of a young Phil O’Donnell mate, he has all the silky skill but can put it in there when needed also.
