If we'd went in with an offer for £2.7million weeks ago it would maybe have just pushed the price up. Think a few of us on here were probably thinking that would be around the right valuation, so all we need now is for a good result tonight and we'll see what tomorrow brings.
Leaving the EU means a lot of people are holding their cash fearing that interest rates might go down, instead they went up. That decision i think was made a few days ago. So there are other things affecting these decisions maybe.
Good thing is we've went and matched the bid, which means hopefully he ends up here. If not i'm not gonna worry too much about it and hope he does well wherever he goes.

I guess i better believe it then as "the media" are always 100% honest and truthful when reporting on matters relating to Celtic.

 

The thing is he'll be a starter there (which isn't guaranteed here), on better wages, in a more competitive league and went to meet Steve Bruce yesterday. Paddy came back to us last year because he knew we wanted him more than anyone else, that plays a big part.

Mark Guidi(who’s John McGinn’s cousin) has just said categorically on the radio that Celtic haven’t matched Villa’s fee and wage.

He said if they had he be at Celtic Park.

He pretty much said that the lad is gutted he’s not going to Celtic.

He did also stress we could still come in at the last minute, but he was impressed with Stevie Bruce/had dinner with him last night.

Bottom line is Lawwell is trying to spin this to suit him.

It was put out earlier that we had matched everything but he wanted to go to Villa because he was told by us he wouldn’t be a first choice - more a squad player.

I think most of us would agree that in general Peter Lawwell has done a good job, to be honest though, I would trust him as far as I could throw him.

We all want great facilities, at Parkhead and Lennoxtown, and things like a hotel is a good idea, but it’s got to come on top of the team improving!

Everything revolves around the team.

All other success follows on from that.

Like Brendan has said - we didn’t need much this season, maybe 3 quality signings, unless anyone else left.

It’s a big world out there, we shouldn’t need to wait for the EPL window to close, their players are well overpriced anyway.

Congerton has had a year to scour the world, and get us good value.
