Do not feel he is what we need right now. Could sign him then loan him back to hibs for the year as I think he'd get more game time and also demonstrate he is a solid player that we could develop further as atm I don't think he isn't better than what we have and I would be annoyed to see him start before our other midfielders. I get they hype surrounding him as he's arguably one of scotlands best/promising players but I think he's still a bit away from a regular in our team. Agree with others that I'd rather use the money to shore up our defence.

Saw one of those 'in the know' bams, claiming we're happy to wait until January to get him.

If that's true, no reason why they can't have Allan and a loan of Benyu.

He will get 15 games +. Armstrong got games last season despite spending time out injured.

Id imagine Allan is one they want on a permanent. Not sure i believe they are interested in Benyu.

Yeah, I'd be happy to get rid of Allan, to them. Can't see him ever being good enough for us.

I'd be surprised if he got that amount with Christie and koassi sniffing around. But say he did get 15 games, is that enough for his development? I don't think so, so I rather see him get a full season of games under his belt elsewhere. Plus Armstrong had shown the previous season his full potential, don't think McGinn has done that yet. He'd be another squad player, not one that would be a first name on the team sheet or even be in contention for a start.
I do see similar qualities to brown when he was that age and maybe that's why people are gettin so worked up about him as look how broon turned out, but I don't believe he's right for us just now. Would I buy him? Probably, but like I said, I'd loan him back out for a season to ensure he gets game time. I would not lose any sleep if we did not sign him and he stayed at hibs or another team bought him.

Christie doesnt play CM and Kouassi rarely plays in the current team we have.
I would imagine he would play even more the following season and thats not including when Ntcham or Brown get injured.
Thats your judgement on him. I think he will come and challenge for a game. He has progressed every season.
He made the SPL team of the year over the course of a 36 (?) game season, beating a few very good players in the process. He is a winner and thats the type of player we need.

I dont see it as a case of getting rid. The boy is a talented player, he did very well at Hibs last season and is proven within the SPL. He has monetary value to us and we still look to get the best deal from selling him.

He's 23, not that young and I'm not totally convinced, yet. Yes he shows promise and definitely has got dig, similar to broony as I'd said in my other post. Depends how you view his position: is he going to replace broon when he retires? Is he an attacking mid? Midfield anchor? In the hole? For hibs, he's got forward so imo he's more attacking than defensive. He's not that creative so therefore we have plenty attracting options. Don't need anymore. If he's goin to replace broon, which some people hope and can possibly see, then fair enough, but as I've said, as yet I haven't seen enough of those qualities to break up play, drive a team on and dominate many games from midfield. Seen it in glimpses and flashes, but I'd like to see if he can continue to do that at hibs this season on a more consistent basis. If he manages that, then I'd give him more credit and he'd be more equipped to deal with the pressures of playing for us and replacing broon.

That "he's a winner" patter is embarrassing. It's the type of thing the Huns say when they signed Joey Barton and Bruno Alves. His team finished 4th last season. He's been relegated at least once in his career and only won a couple of trophy's so he's anything but "a winner". Might be a decent signing for the squad but not for anything over 2 mil when we can get him for free next year

See folk still suggesting we loan McGinn back to Hibs for a year.
I can't be the only one to realise how dumb that idea is? Guys deal is up in 10 months and folk want us to spend over 2.5mill on him, to then just loan him back for that same time period. May as well just wait it out. Rather than give 2.5million to Hibs for nothing.

As for them perhaps wanting 2 players from us, then they better be willing to drop that asking price considerably. 2million plus Allan, a player THEY WANT, is more than fair. Throw in a free loan deal and they are being cheeky asking for anything more than 2million now.

I don't think loaning him back is a dumb idea. Paying £2m and loaning him is. If we paid £1m and loaned him back, it's not a huge amount of money. He'd be guaranteed more game time than he'd get here and more opportunity to prove himself. For those that really want him, if we don't sign him this window, we run the risk of another club buying him, prob a league 1 side who'll pay pittance for him but give him substantial wages. If you're prepared to take that risk, then fine, but for £1m both parties could be happy with that agreement.

I would play him as a box to box mid, like he has been playing, until such a time where he may be required to play in Brown’s role. In exactly the same way as Armstrong was being used.
Well he is actually one of the most creative players in the SPL if you look at the key passes stat i posted earlier in this thread. And he has goals. He has a bit of everything.

Well what would you define as consistency? Because for many he did do it over 36 games last season in our league.

Is it aye? I must be one of them then..

How does the performance of the rest of his team impact on his attitude and mentality as an individual?

Not even entertaining the Barton comment. Guy was a weapon from the outset.

Dont know if you know this, but its pretty rare that players win all the time. As an 18 year old he started in a team that beat us in a cup final and then won a scottish cup with hibs.

Even Brown failed to win in a cup final before he joined celtic. Hes probably now won the most of any player in Scotland.

Your clearly a bit of a dafty and your points dont really make a strong arguement. fourth for a team in their first season back in the SPL, beat us and Rangers. But aye he is anything but a winner.

He was once part of a relegated team.. and what? So was Roy Keane as a young player.

Maybe if you speak to a few Hibees instead of listening to the huns you could learn something

So you've started that by suggesting team performances don't reflect how good he is as an individual before telling me about the things his team have won. He has also never played in a team that has beat Celtic in a cup final so I don't know where that random fact has came from. Henderson and stokes are the reason that Hibs won that cup. And then to finish it, fans and players all voted McGeoch (a guy who wasn't good enough for Celtic) as their player and players player of the year ahead of McGinn. So why would McGinn be good enough exactly?

That's not strictly true. Brown was part of the hibs side that won the league cup in 2007.
Think the "dunno" interview might have been after that game.

Was refering to the CIS cup final v Livi. He was part of the team that lost 2-1. David fernandez ran the show in the second half.

My point being that one defeat doesnt make you a loser. Brown went on to achieve success and so will Mcginn. That cody bhoy was coming out with some ridiculous stuff.
