£2.5m and Allan, Kouassi on loan to them as well. Think that would perfectly suit us and be an excellent deal for Hibs.

It’s what I’ve said all along, the lowballing is what I don’t like.

Not always. Sometimes clubs overpay for players by meeting the selling club's asking price and sometimes clubs get a bargain.

I agree with you that this is in effect a game of chess/poker, whatever you want to call it. All I'm saying is I don't think McGinn spending another season at Hibs is in the best interests of either Hibernian, Celtic or McGinn himself. It would be better all round if a deal could get done.

Armstrong - proven SPL goal scorer with vast European experience.

McGinn - unproven at pretty much everything other than having Broony's tenacity and drive.

Scaling McGinn off of Armstrong doesn't work. Particularly when he will be signed up on a pre-contract in 5 months.

Exactly. Us and the EPL market are world's apart..

Hughes came out delighted that Southampton had beaten off stiff competition to get Armstrong. Widely reported Brighton and West Ham were the other's..

That's an EPL side with trust in us as they've had many successful bargains from us in recent year's, beating other EPL side's most likely as it wouldn't be stiff competition from championship club's..

So far, we've came in and no one else has batted an eyelid..

If EPL club's come in and blow us out the water then Hibs were right all along. I certainly can't see it though..

If it's championship club's then McGinn, approaching 24 and already served his lower league apprenticeship....does he want to do it again in England? Which is likely where the other interest will be...or does he want to come to the club he supports and win thing's and play in the Champions League?

I think it's gone past that stage now, where we are willing to add in loan player incentives, hope I'm wrong.. what you suggest is fair but not sure we could have had that as an opening gambit when dealing with Petrie..

Let's see what happens, hope it goes through sooner rather than layer as much for McGinn McGinns sake.

I like Mcginn, but would rather have kept Armstrong.

You're arguing against your own point here. So because Southampton overpaid for Armstrong, we should overpay for McGinn?

The midfield is fine, we don't need him as a matter of urgency, if they crash out of the Europa and receive no bids from English clubs then they will be desperate to take any cash available rather than lose him for heehaw in a few months.

Football is a ruthless business, we should be looking after ourselves, * sentimentality, * Hibs and most of all * Petrie. McGinn will be a Celtic player eventually and he's beelin' that there's nothing he can do about it.

Aye, I’d have opened with £2m, I think when you take it under that it’s the insulting ‘you’ll accept a pittance’ kinda stance. I’d have then went Allan and Kouassi.

If Kouassi isn’t games I can’t think of a better place to learn Scottish football, week in and week out, than under Neil Lennon. He’d be the main man there and Neil Lennon would develop him in the style we like our central midfielders, him and Rodgers are similar that way for me.

Away ye go ffs! :56: Armstrong had various European experience and a mainstay in the Scotland side which McGinn is just breaking into. No chance are they even in the same bracket price wise.

So with 2.5 million Allan & Kouassi on loan, how much are you calculating he is worth?

I think 2 million should be our top figure. If we are loaning players that figure should come down accordingly.

I do agree that if Kouassi isn't going to get game time. I would prefer he went to Hibs on loan as Lennon will bring him on

McGinn has more caps than Armstrong and is 3 years younger.

I would not loan any of our players to Hibs. Get Petrie to *.

Armstrong was wanted by EPL clubs, with one forking out £7m for him.

English interest in McGinn has been non existent bar a link with League One Sunderland at the start of the summer. We're no exactly fighting off clubs for his signature if we're honest.

Allans worth * all, we’ve been trying to punt him for ages with absolutely zero success. I’d value McGinn between £3m/£3.5m, so Kouassi is bringing that down already for me.

Think he’s far better than people give him credit for, people are also using prives from like 10 years ago to value him. Times moved on for me.

Think that’s shooting ourselves in the foot mate, they’re a resource we can use tbh. Kouassi looks to be a star but he needs a full season under him, he needs to get used to Scottish football and he needs to do so in a way that will develop him in a perfect way for us. That’s Hibs for me.

So the Allan thing is the same as i said about McGinn previous, the club can't force them out. Allan will sit on his * for another season as Hibs are not going to pay the same wages as us. If we are loaning him out we are having to part of his wages which ads more on to the value.

TBH i don't see him getting any game time for us this season, so why buy him to sit on the bench?
