£2m is a fair bid..

We should walk away until Jan now.. concentrate on other targets..

 

Dont see us going much higher, £2.5m was what I thought the ceiling might be, but with the bidding patterns and being 3 bids in already (allegedly), it seems unlikely we will see a 500k rise.

If the club are going to bid further, could see us maxing out at £2.2-.3m, then January beckons.

 

Agree with you on the value and the way forward but I really don’t think we are targeting players as things stand I think we are going to wait til the English window shuts!

 

Hibs fans are gonna * hate Petrie when instead of getting 2 million, they lost their best player for fuckall.

 

They are loving him the now though, standing up to big bad Celtic. 2mil is more than fair with year on his contract. I would just wait and take him for free.

 

I couldn't actually give a * if we sign McGinn but I wouldn't pay more than £2.5m for him. What we need is another Central Defender and some cover for the back.

 

For me part of the draw of McGinn, is that he wants be here..

If we lose out then so be it, he won’t have wanted it enough.

Still think it will happen, but it’s a hand the game we can afford to lose..

 

Oh aye. But it’s not gonna end well for him. He should just take the 2 million and spin it as a win.

 

Glad to see the majority of the replies now are with us all being on the same page.

2million is a fair price, if they want to hold out for more and think they can get it - fair enough. But for Celtic and me, I think £2million is more than enough. Perhaps offer now £2million and Allan, then if they reject it we walk away.

I would like him here, but he isn't currently worth £4million to us this season. £4million drop on this guy, and then if we didn't go spend money on the defence I would be raging.
But should we pull away now, plan to sign him on a pre-contract (if he goes elsewhere, fair play hibs), then that's £2-4million we really could spend on a decent CB.

 

Get this to to *. Said it days ago, it's becoming a circus now. Let's focus on other targets and maybe come back to it nearer the end of the window if he's still there. If not, oh well.

 

I don't think you will see celtic move for anyone until nearer the end of August, I think in some * up way they are happy to go with what we have the now and see if we can pick up any scraps down south once their window shuts and that narrows our sales market also as if for example the club don’t make the UCL then we can sell moussa to cover a majority of the revenue lost. As I have always said a balance sheet is more important to our board than anything.

We think as fans it is insulting to lawwell it’s a business model which has worked for a long time for him. He won’t change at all and that’s how he sees it.

 

Predicting a deadline day McGinn announcement to generate some PR and try to paper over what has been an unconvincing transfer window.

I know but it was insulting when he done it to the likes of Jackie McNamara and I think it’s insulting now as well.

 

Unconvincing window? We signed Odsonne Eduoard on a permanent you know, right?

As far as I'm concerned, if we sign a centre half and a back up right back we're laughing.

 

Spend the money on a CB, get McGinn for free next season... CB is urgent, McGinn is not imo

 

I know. And Roberts and Armstrong have exited stage left. We finished the season with a stronger squad than we have at present*. That falls into the unconvincing category for me.

Agreed, those are the two positions we really need to strengthen and we've known that for at least 6 months now and haven't done anything.

*Honourable mentions to big Nads and wee Charly who've moved on also

 

I've being a critic but not in this occasion, doing it right imo..

 

Are you being serious? we should be bettering our squad so we don't get * by 7 goals in champions league.
just because we broke our transfer record doesn't mean its a successful one.
