The fact the English transfer window closes early is a big factor in this

Does he play as a striker ? defender ?

There's no way he's coming in to play alongside Brown. He's his long term replacement.

It's not the first time he's spoke about him either.

Rodgers and him clearly see a few more levels in him, which I'm inclined to agree with.

Nah he plays as a box to box midfielder. He scored 6 goals last season, Brown scored 0. McGinn will be competing with ntcham for a place as he has different traits he can bring to the team which would improve us in certain games, like Armstrong was.

I think he will be used in both Brown and Ntcham roles throughout the course of a season. He is more physical than Ntcham, but is also capable of going forward.
He will improve the team because of this and if he signs it will be a matter of time before he proves the doubters wrong.

I can see the argument that some fans feel we should be going for a player of a better pedigree, but this boy is a winner and he has proven from the day he was put into the St Mirren team as a teenager.

St Mirren fans, Hibs fans, Strachan, Rodgers and Brown all rate him highly.

We might need to strengthen in other areas, but the money that the talent is availible for is a no brainer.

I was against it at first. But honestly believe now in a few years if he signs we will be wondering why we ever doubted it.

    Hope I'm right.

Brown started off as a box to box midfielder. McGinn will replace Brown. Much more of a battling midfielder than Armstrong.

I understand the signing. He's got great dig similar to brown. He's Scottish young and a great talent. Scottish players seem to stay and happily stay for alot longer too saving bi-annual rebuild that we seen with Lennons team. I wouldn't over pay tbh. He won't play for a while after signing until he's got used to the tactics etc so may as well let hibs risk him leaving for nothing.

Aye I've heard him speak about their battling in the past but that was glowing and then some..

No sure I entirely agree with all of that as Broony was almost talking like he was some in awe dud, but impressive reference nonetheless..

Dunno about the last part. Rodgers clearly wants him in now for a reason.

We won't overpay though I agree. Hence why it is dragging.

Do people see McGinn as a better player than Amrstrong, are we upgrading by replacing Armstrong for McGinn?

I don't really care. Purely focused on Celtic.

    Hibs act like soup takers.

Different type of midfielders ,McGinn is a ball winner , drive and determination Armstrong never had that , both can go box to box but think McGinn has a better engine,
Armstrong scored quite a few goals the other season dunno if McGinn could hit 20+ though he has goals in him.

I don't see Neil Lennon as a soup taker and I want to see him do as well as possible. Secondly I don't want the bigots to come runners up.

I consider myself a fan but often focus on other teams eg wanting England to get beat or supporting my local GAA team
