Agree with the sentiment in this, if not the mental ranting it comes across as.

There's far too much effort and energy and hope being focused on this deal rather than looking and acting in more important areas of the team. Just wish it would be finished one way or another.

I'm.not being a smart * here but how do any of us know how much effort is being put into looking at other positions? Genuinely. We don't. People are just assuming every ounce is going into this.

The fact we've already had a RB in on trial and are being linked with other positions suggests otherwise.

Still loads of time. I've kind of come to terms with the fact that no matter the manager in charge or success of the team, Celtic will never do things quickly or openly in the transfer market. Which sometimes isn't a bad thing.

Celtic are expected to make further inroads with Hibs again this week as they look to add John McGinn to their ranks.

It is believed that the 23-year-old Scotlandinternationalist has intimated his desire to Hibs that he wishes to make his move to Brendan Rodgers’ side. McGinn has spent the last three seasons at Easter Road where he has become a pivotal part of Neil Lennon’s midfield but it is understood that he is eager to make the switch to Celtic Park.

He was left out of the Hibs team that beat NSI Runavik 6-1 in their Europa League qualifier last week. Lennon commented after the game that the player was carrying an injury but he also conceded that his focus had been affected by the fact that Celtic’s interest in him had become public.

It would suit Lennon to have thee situation clarified in order that if he does lose the player then he is given adequate time to organise a replacement for him before the domestic campaign gets underway again next month.

The Parkhead club have had two bids of £1.5m and £1.75m knocked back for the midfielder, with Hibs valuing the player at £4m. It is thought, however, that a deal could be done for £2.5m with Scott Allan making his way back to Easter Road where he spent the latter half of last term on loan.

That would allow McGinn to make the move to Celtic and hook up with Rodgers’ side.

The Celtic manager has made it clear that he would like to add the player to his squad and with McGinn out of contract at the end of the forthcoming season and free to sign a pre-contract agreement in January, this window will be viewed by Hibs as the last genuine opportunity they have to bank money through the sale of the player.

Of course it does, it highlights how quickly a potential first teamer can progress given game time at this level. Ajer is now, arguably, our top CB off the back of game time at Killie. Rodgers sanctioned the move, brought him back, and now he's in the team - There's a precedent there for any young player.

In the formative years game time is crucial, at 21 it's essential. I don't see him going to Hibs, but I wouldn't really be adversed to it.

In essence, you're right, it isn't value for money. We shouldn't really care about that though, it's playing regularly at Celtic where he will garner value. What he needs now is regular minutes.

Celtic to offer Mikey Johnston to Hibs as part of bid to land John McGinn
Brendan Rodgers is desperate to land Easter Road midfielder while Neil Lennon is keen on Celtic winger.

Celtic are set to offer Hibs Mikey Johnston on loan as part of the push to bring John McGinn to Parkhead.

Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers is determined to land the Easter Road midfielder but has seen two bids of £1.5million and £2m knocked back by the Leith chiefs.

Celtic are refusing to pay over the odds for the Scotland international who is out of contract next summer - but are set to sweeten the deal by allowing Johnston to go in the opposite direction.

The 19-year-old is open to a loan move and while talks have already taken place with St Mirren, Record Sport understands Aberdeen are also keen on landing the winger - along with Hibs.

Neil Lennon is an admirer of the youngster and is on the search for a wide man after Brandon Barker returned to Manchester City at the end of his spell last season.

Parkhead gaffer Rodgers is also looking to bolster his attack but could be priced out of a move for Uruguay World Cup star Giorgian De Arrascaeta.

The Cruzeiro playmaker - who made two appearances in Russia - has been watched by Hoops scouts but is also attracting attention from Newcastle United and is expected to command a transfer fee of more than £10m.

Celts could meet the transfer fee but would struggle to compete with the Premier League rivals when it comes to wages.

Rodgers wants another attacking midfielder after Stuart Armstrong’s £7m switch to Southampton, Patrick Roberts’ return to Man City and Charly Musonda’s 18-month move from Chelsea was cut short after the Belgian youngster failed to settle in Scotland.

Loan target Harry Wilson - who was also being chased by Rangers - is set to join Frank Lampard’s Derby County for the season from Liverpool.

It's turning into a saga. For John McGinn. It would just fill me with a lot more optimism if we were being linked with some defenders this window and not just a free agent full back for whom a deal looks dead in the water. As I said, I just wish it would be dealt with one way or another so we can move on from talking about it constantly.

It’s not even August yet tho.. this is a well publicised deal that Hibs have made public to try and drum up more interest and get the most for their player, it’s their prerogative. Usually we don’t give the press a sniff and then we’ve signed the likes of Dembele & Ntcham under the radar..

It’s not really a saga we have made two bids and will come back in after giving time for Hibs to think about losing him for nothing. It’s business..

We’ve looked at RB already, wouldn’t be surprised if we land a player or two under the radar even before the McGinn deal is done.

This deal is being conducted in the public eye, but that’s not our fault and it’s the only deal the media can focus on as they have nothing else.

Get the boy signed up! Already a winner and will only improve. By the time he’s 26, he’ll be worth a fortune!
